Long time lurker here, I just don't post much.
I am looking for a spot to shoot prairie dogs with my 13yo son.
I offer to trade a deer hunt in central MN on our ranch for a prairie dog hunt on yours. We also have bear, turkeys and wolves but I didn't think of this in time and the application deadline has passed for bear and wolves for this year.
Rifle season for deer is 11/9/13-11/17/13 (area 246). I've got 120 acres of pasture that is surrounded by thousands of acres of public land that you could hunt on. You could park a camper most anywhere if you wanted to, but I don't have electric at that pasture.
Keep in mind that this isn't Illinois, but they do shoot some nice deer in this
area every year.
If you wanted to hunt archery or muzzleloader you could pretty much hunt the whole ranch (1000 acres +/-). Archery is already open, it runs 9/14-12/31. ML is 11/30-12/15.
This won't be a guided hunt, I'll show you around and such, but you will be responsible for all your own licenses, hunting, field dressing, etc.
We would like to go on our prairie dog trip in late May to early June next year. Probably only for a couple days. This will be our first time shooting pdogs, I don't care if we don't get to shoot thousands of rounds, but would like to have enough shooting to keep it fun. I also don't expect to be guided, just show us where we can and cannot shoot. Will have to be within a days drive for us, which means SD, ND, maybe eastern MT or WY.
