Travel Trailers

Least favorite part is that climbin up and over in the gooseneck part to go to bed. I have seen some of the fifth wheel versions that are really tall, have way more room, and it's more like you climb stairs to get up there instead of just haulin yer booty up there from one step.

In my opinion the bumper pulls are more user friendly. Even tho the gooseneck/fifth wheels probably pull better.

We have a fifth wheel, ours has stairs[3]going into it but greg still has to crouch down, not back friendly. I don't mind it but he has a real hard time with it.Greg Bro. has one with the bathroom and walk into basically the bedroom. I'd look for that IF your intent on the fifth wheel. Gregs looking for a bumper pull....hes not real fond of hookin up the fifth wheel in uneven campsites....

Oh...and make sure that it has a bathroom....all seperate. By that I mean. Not a potty in the shower. Some of them have the potty sittin in the shower. How unhandy is that? Ours is all seperate, shower, potty, sink....It's small, but at least you don't hafta try to avoid the potty while takin a shower.

I'm pretty sure you need one that opens up in the back, for you to load your 4 wheeler. :P Will you change your name to Happy Camper.

Happy Camper...that does sound good!!! :D

But I heard that camping is fun for the guys, but more work
for the women. :P Who needs that??? So I don't
think we'll be camping all that much. However, if we get one
I'm taking Mr. FH to the Big Horn mountains for a few days
after the hay is up. Unless we are in fire danger then, which
usually happens...

We are thinking of going to Oklahoma and Texas this winter where we
have good friends. If we have our own place to stay, we'll probably
remain good friends.  :P

Then when we head north next summer, we'll have our own
place to stay.

After 3 days fish and company both begin to smell.   :P

Sounds like the bed is a big deal. Sooo what if you get a bedroom slide--
a slide-out in the bedroom as well as in the main
part of the trailer. Does that help with getting around the bed; or do you need a high profile as Mrs. Greg suggested?

A big one doesn't pull and harder that a small one unless it is really high. Buy the largest roomiest one you can afford.

We owned a 25' goose neck for a few yew years. It had 3 steps and the inside height was fine for us. We had a queen size bed in the back, a full bathroom (no crapper in the shower), tinny kitchen but it worked, and kitchen table folded into second bed. It was fine with twin 7 year old girls and a 5 year old girl.

I hated setting it up when it was not on level ground. Too much work trying to get every thing level and stable. Getting it ready to tow was just as fun. I ended up digging out a spot out by the pond and filling it with wet base. We used it every other weekend for 2 years but it got old going to our own pound all the time.

We sold it for 2 reasons. It was too much of a pain to set it up. We grew too big to get away but to small to hire help. We have talked about getting a new one and have looked but can't find something that fits the 5 of us that dose not have a pull out.

About 15 years ago I spent the winter in the frame plant at Peterson Industries. They made the Legacy and Knoble Esquire lines of 5th wheels. Long or short, fancy or plain, we built a LOT of trailers that winter. Over 1 a day rolled out that east door, ready for a new home. I built their slide out prototype and built probably 80 or so slide outs before I quit. I also built hundreds of steps and miles of gas lines for trailers. I pretty much saw them from bare steel until they went in the frame paint booth.
I wouldn't take one if you gave it to me. Spend your dough on a motel and let somebody else wash the sheets. FWIW.

Camping's fun Faster, not just for the guys. I feel like I'm in heaven with the fifth wheel....we've always camped either in tents or campers with no bathroom, but I've always loved it!!!

Eco..........that is pretty close.

We used good steel in the frames. I grew up in an honest to God blacksmith shop......no worries with the welding/fabrication, but the gas line came from Turkey and you couldn't cut threads on it as much as you tore threads, and the fittings/elbows were either from Mexico or Malaysia, and 30% had pinholes. We used miles of teflon tape on the threads. No matter how awful the lines looked if they passed the pressure check, they got installed and shipped.
Like I said, I worked there long enough to know you couldn't give me one. I imagine the other departments had equal experiences.

I would VOTE for Good Insulation in your Country!

We had a lot of fun with ours at Livestock Shows BUT had to make 2 round trips to each show - One with the Stock and one to haul the Trailer.

Ended up with a MotorHome and pull Stock Trailer (That has it drawbacks also)

We have a 28' with rear bedroom's / bunkbeds. The table drops down for another bed and the couch is a hideaway. We have one slide out in the main part of the camper 2 steps up to the bathroom area. One more small step to the top bed This is where you want to get another slide out otherwise there's no moving around the bed just crawling into it like our's.I want to trade ours in a few years for one with a rear living room my inlaws have one like that and it's pretty nice. We bought our's for maximum sleeping area with the kid's now as they grow up and move out on their own we can maybe change ours a bit.Might be alot cheaper to just remodel ours.

I agree with Greg, bumper pull is much better and you can get some really nice big trailers with slide outs......You can then carry dirt bikes in the truck as the box is again useable.....I think you should seriously consider bumper pull....and no grease needed...lol....It sure is nice to have the truck box to carry things in when traveling.....and unhooking is a breeze.....lol...

Finally found some firm common ground with you Kola. Stars are the key. 3 or more.

Why only get three stars when you just have to step out of your trailer on a warm summer night, look up,and have a million of them.....

Got all of that every night at the ranch. If I am going to move closer to the neighbors (camping) I would rather have service and not have to pull a cumbersome unit down the road. Been down that canoe trip and have out grown the hassle. Don't get me wrong, every one views it differently.
