This probably isn't where this should go, but it is a view from our front door.

A close up of it.

Last winter we lost everyone of the ornamental trees in the yard, and Lisa has been building fences around the newly planted trees. This one has a death wish. Season opens 2 weeks from today!!! The big brown thing behind him is a barb wire moose, that the boss had made for his wife for Christmas 3 years ago.

A few years ago I dug in about 60 or 70 hard maple trees by hand into a triangular corner of a hay field. They were from 4' - 7 ' tall.

Carried buckets of water from the adjacent creek to them all that fall. They were thirsty, but they kept their leaves and lived. Lotsa lugging of water buckets!

Next spring I thought they sure were slow coming into leaf. Waited and carried more water but no leaves.

Finally looked at them closely to discover that the deer had cleaned the buds all off over the winter . . . :(
