Last year we had no water at all and this year we may flood from the river. I now have just over 500 yearlings grazing on some of the best grass I had in years. Some of the best clover and vetch hay fields I was going to cut in a month. I am NOT going to conplain one bit because this is much better than drought and will help our pastures alot going into the summer.

I bet that old Trinity is up, been lota rain so far this year, maybe the drought is over, they say a drought builds character in a man, bout had all the character I can stand.
good luck

Good for you Trinity, hate seeing folks in a drought situation. I hope this year is one for the record books on the good side of the ledger.

I drive over the Trinity, going to work, and it is out of its banks down here which is about 5 miles from where it empties into the bay. Last year you couldn't even tell if it was running, and the water was very green. I forgot how dirty it can get, it looks like chocolate milk now. Not complaining though.

I will try to get some pictures today. We have been so busy the wife got me 250 tons of mushroom compost to put out on our hay fields this year. She got moved up into the position she has been wanting at her job finally. She is now the new controllor of the Monterey Mushrooms Madisonville Texas facility. The add on to my mother house is really coming along to now. They got it dry in last week and now will be working on the inside. Mom keeps asking are we moving next week and I tell her no we have to finish the house. The altimizer's disease is starting to really affect her now. I Best get going I am burning daylight as John Wayne used to say.

Wow, is that ever a change from last year TM. :D

I would guess the pecans have budded by now.

Pardon me if this is a silly question but do you have alligators there?

The pecans have just started budding this week. Spring is finally here like it ever ended.

Yes we have gator's in the river. I have a friend that lost a dog to one in the river while running a hog. He said he would never hog hunt on our place in the river bottom again. He said the gator was about 10 or 11 foot long and had the dog in less than a blink of a eye. We use to have them nest of the sand bar where we fish at, but after a few gator trail dinners they left. :D I seen one this evening trying to catch some alligator gar's. He shot right out of the water at one. He was about 5 or 6 feet long.
