Duchess is a little town about an hour and a half drive south of us.
PIC_7009.jpg

An HH bull on Char heifers, not a common sight.
PIC_7013.jpg

The Bull is in good shape.
PIC_7025.jpg

Sky in the west was starting to darken on the way home.
PIC_7044.jpg

Some plants in the ditch.

Sky black to the North also. Radio broadcasting tornado warnings.

PIC_7098.jpg

I wasn't quite so brave.
PIC_7108.jpg

PIC_7111.jpg

Looking quite menacing.
PIC_7123.jpg

Produced only hail. Thank goodness.

Good it was fast moving.

Didn't do any damage at Sheerness, not like the storm that hit last week east of Calagry and went all the way to Dalum, it pulverized everything.
Brutal.

Wow, those are some impressive shots from start to finish. I really admire those who can get a good, sharp picture, especially like your flower shots.

Thanks for taking the time.

A friend of ours moved to Duchess about 30 years ago with his family and milked cows there for a number of years. I visited them there in '78 when I went out there to work for a while. So I was in Duchess!

He and his family then moved to Northern California to provide leadership at a church there. We were deeply saddened to learn that his oldest son was killed in an accident this past week.

Those big storms that build up out there on the plains make me nervous just seeing them on the computer. Sure was a nice bunch of pictures and I'm glad the hail didnt tear stuff up worse.

Heck of a storm, I can never figure out why some don't slow down until it is too late. Super chilling the grass at this time of year sometimes makes it go dormant but sure sets it up good for next year.

May be super wetting will be good for next year also. It's still raining here, DU projects are still flowing. I don't ever recall the project North of us flowing in July. Unbelievable.! :-)

Making hay in Aug is better than making none. :D

Glad you enjoyed the pics burnt. Duchess is a big town now 400 plus, all the growth in Brooks is making Duchess a nice little suburb.

Sorry to hear about your friend's son.

The stills didn't capture the rotation that was taking place in that storm cell, it was making me really nervous!

did it do any damage up your way

lbr, thanks for asking, we were spared so far. I am keeping my fingers crossed though.

Where are you located, have you put up any hay yet?
were south of lomond , got about a 100 bales put up , I just keep knocking it down so it can all get a little rain on it :) but this week looks better , we also have an oat crop with some grass south of you a few miles , that hail just look pretty nasty
