I went 180 some odd miles northeast to attend an A.I. class Tuesday. The weather was horrible driving up and after i made it the roads were closed to clean up. We spent time in class and on a local dairy. They let us practice on a cull pen of dairy cows. Your gonna do what?
The dairy was a new thing for me. Everything was really orderly and neat. They can clean alleyways by turning a valve and washing the manure away!
5 of us took the class. They were pretty shy around the camera! Something about not trusting me and shut off the camera before we stick it somewhere!
Garth was from Soda springs Idaho. JR was a local and his dad ran the dairy. John and Hayes were from Calio, Utah west of me next to Nevada. And one guy everybody called "slow" and "are you sure you have worked with cattle?" Our fine patient teacher, Brad, is from Preston Idaho!
The 1st couple hours was difficult. Trying to find a cervix and thread the dang thing was a challenge. Some of those sweet holstein sisters had their cervix hidden near their brisket!
After some kind words followed by threats, swearing, jumping up and down and hair pulling Brad finally gave up on me and said good luck! But i percervered and was able to get my hand inside the cow!
The second day was much easier thankfully! After dreaming about having a python crunch my arm all night i awoke and got after it! I'd got a couple threaded the day before and finally got the hang of it! Its a dirty and fun process!
Hayes hails from Montana but resides in Utah helping his grand-dad. He has enlisted in the Marine Corp and ships out to California in March. He is a true blue hero in my book!
A shot of a cloudy Cache Valley. I sure would like too of seen it 200 years ago!
After destroying my teachers self esteem and possibly his career i headed home. Can't pass up the chance to shoot a windmill!
Sardine canyon is much nicer when you can see further that your dash!
The highway boys were still working on the shoulders!
BIG SNOW BLOWER!
Lots of snow. The storm dumped 3 feet in spots!
Pretty country! Lots of agriculture and nice mountains!
Til I reached the interstate! I may have mentioned i kinda dislike town! I had to distract myself by taking pictures of big grain elevators!
They must really like each other to live that close together!
I decided to head west instead of going to ol' Cheyenne!
I just do better on two lanes and horse trails than interstates and concrete!
Whew!
It's fun to go and see but it's great to come home! The Sheeprock Mountains stand as a sentinal over my place and family and welcome me back!
The certificate was free but that stupid hat cost me $250.00!!! And i had to sign a paper saying i would wear it in public!
