Well my mom and dad slid there truck into a creek late friday. They are ok just a little shook up. They are in their early 80's and they now think they can't drive anymore. I told them it can happen to anyone driving on red clay after inch of rain.

Here is some picture of it and us geting it out.

Insurance will total it they said. Which that sucks because the motor never really got in the water just the computer. Thats bad when the computer cost more than the truck itself.

Sure am glad your folks are alright, they must still be in pretty good shape to get out by themselves, walk 3 miles to a phone, accident like that can happen to anyone..............good luck

Darn good thing that ditch was dry.

Good to hear they are ok.

No it had about 2 foot of water in it plus it was cold. They walked about 3 miles to the house to call me.

Allow me to add the word "near" to the dry. I could see it had some water. In my country it would have been full to the brim.

My folks are that age as well - it shakes them up - you give them a hug and tell them they are going to be fine.

Then be darned sure to hang around a bit closer for a couple days to make sure! I know I would.

My best to you and to them,

BC

They are both in pretty good shape even tho my dad had heart surgery about 7 years ago. My mom walks about 3 miles every day to, but after this she was a little wired when she called me. This is the reason I moved back to the area. My wife and I was working for Dow Chemical in Freeport Texas and they was about to move us to Michigan when we thought it would be best to come home and help them out. My parent have always help us out in tough times so I this is my time to help them out. Thanks for all your caring you guy are Great. I show my dad the this site one day and he thought this is pretty neat.

Glad they are OK. I think many of us on here are lucky enough to have some parents around. I like what you said about it's your time to help them out. I know the feeling. :-)

My parents are in their late 70's and are fiercely independent. I have a BIL in the Bobcat business so when I need one I steal one of his. One time this winter his were all busy when I wanted one. Dad decided he needed to be in the business so he bought one, drove it for ten minutes, said it was too rough and left it at my place.

He does have one of my fuel cards. Thankfully he gets better mileage than I did when he supplied fuel when I was young.

Parents are well worth looking after, boy will miss them when their gone.

per, your story of independent parents reminds me of my folks when they would go to eye dr appts and get their eyes dialated. They would come out of the eye clinic with those heavy plastic dark glasses on and get in the car and take off. Mom would watch for the traffic lights on the way out of town while Dad concentrated on driving. They were 40 miles down the road before Dad could begin to focus and read any of the guages on the dashboard.

Glad your parents are OK. A bunch of you are fortunate to still have your parents with you. Mom died when I was 10 and Dad passed on 4 years ago this coming July. My wife's folks are still independant and doing well. They still live near us and know they can call on us if we are needed.

I'm sure happy your parents are OK.....looks like a bad spill and I can understand why they're nervous about driving again but that stuffs like snot and your right anyone would have hit the drink in that!!!

Those elders are sure a hardy bunch  :) Hugs to them.....and you looks like they scared you a bit

You guys are lucky to still have your parents, neither hubby or I have our parents with us anymore

Glad they're ok. Quite a little ordeal to have while out for a leisurely drive. My folks are still young, Dad's 59 and Mom's 54. They live 75 yds away in a house they built after letting us move into "the Big House". It's wonderful having them so close. The kids can walk over and see what Grammy and Grampa are up to. My Grandad on one side is still calving his own cows across the valley from us, at the tender age of 79, and Grandma on the maternal side of the family is the only other living grandparent, at the age of 83, and still quite active. It's wonderful to have memories of parents and grandparents, but even better to still have them around to share the smiles face to face.
