Tune for today

Help Support Ranchers.net:

Ya, Big Muddy, I liked it too.

Today it's a hymn by Danish Bishop-hymn writer Nikolai Frederik Severin Grundtvig who died on September 2, 1872. (I'm a day late with this memorial, I guess!)

To give an idea of Grundtvig's impact on Danish culture and history, yesterday I asked some Danish acquaintances what they knew of this name and it's significance. After brief thought, her eyes widened and she proclaimed that his name is given as composer on many of the hymns that they sing in church!

The words to the hymn are supplied in the description below the video. Oops, I didn't mean to turn this into another history lesson, but... :-/

Tim McKamey does a fantastic job of bending the strings and singing in this guitar arrangement that he adapted for this song.

Prestonwood Choir - I Then Shall Live

Lyrics - worth knowing!

I then shall live as one who's been forgiven.
I'll walk with joy to know my debts are paid.
I know my name is clear before my Father;
I am His child and I am not afraid.
So, greatly pardoned, I'll forgive my brother;
The law of love I gladly will obey.

I then shall live as one who's learned compassion.
I've been so loved, that I'll risk loving too.
I know how fear builds walls instead of bridges;
I'll dare to see another's point of view.
And when relationships demand commitment,
Then I'll be there to care and follow through.

Your Kingdom come around and through and in me;
Your power and glory, let them shine through me.
Your Hallowed Name, O may I bear with honor,
And may Your living Kingdom come in me.
The Bread of Life, O may I share with honor,
And may You feed a hungry world through me.

Amen, Amen, Amen

A contemporary sound for an old hymn.

I am posting this song as a tribute to the memory of a former pastor, now deceased, since it was one of his favorite songs. This past Sunday I had the privilege of giving a presentation in his memory at the church where he was pastor almost 40 years ago.

A brief excerpt - "Mose was humble, but not weak. Caring, but not sentimental. Strong, but not calloused (other than his hands!). Very intelligent and wise, but not scheming or cunning ... A good man, but fully aware of his fallibility and not hesitant to admit it ... He was equally aware of the humanity of those around him and reminded them accordingly, if necessary! A man that was comfortable in his own skin ... So, like the rest of ours, this halo I'm polishing had a few dents! But to my knowledge he never shirked his duty and was never vindictive in fulfilling it. "

How many of us live our lives in such a manner as to stir - in those who follow us - the same positive, warm memories as Mose did last Sunday?

RIP, Mose.

Mose was good at this kind of stuff, being like the "old man" in this song...

This gal sang this one on Cowboy Church today.
Dad enjoys watching it and i was in for coffee. Usually it's Russ Weaver and Susie McIntyre but today it was a different preacher and this gal.
