ThePianoGuys - Nearer My God to Thee

Sarah Flower Adams, the writer of the lyrics for this hymn, was born on February 22, 1805. What an enduring gift her words have been for over 2 centuries since then!

According to the description beneath the video, this piece was recorded in Sundance, Utah.

Let this sink in, because it is when we see the holiness of God, we become aware of our deep need before Him. It is then that the importance of the redemptive work of the Cross becomes crystal clear and we begin to be changed into His likeness as we accept what He has done for us there . . .

Amazing!

"And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit..." (2 Corinthians 3:18, NIV)

If you are like most others, including me, you sometimes wonder why bad, ugly things happen to people? But did you ever wonder why good things happen to you, or why you were spared trouble??

Today I avoided what could have been a real disaster, one of those things that could wipe a life's work right out. I had to wonder, why was I spared this disaster when so many others have been through terrible situations, and they are no better or worse, no more or less deserving than I am?

I still do not know why providence works as it does, but I found this -

It's one thing to say these words.

It's completely another to live them...

"Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow me." (Matthew 16:24, NLT)
