Thanks for the link. There's been a lot of debate about the slaughter issue here. I've been told that, Of states that do not have a racing facility, NC has the highest horse population. I personally do believe that the abuse/neglect problem is growing here if nowhere else. Particularly in light of the economic situation. Also, we just came out of a severe drought and hay was in short supply and selling high when the horse slaughter was stopped. Killed the horse auction market here. I think the folks that ramrodded this through were well-intentioned, but not far-sighted enough to see that they've actually made things worse.

Of course, I'm sure our HSUS friends are about to solve this problem any day now... :D
