Just remember that when filling it out- years down the line that may become a piece of evidence- for or against you.... The government (USDA/FSA) look at all info (everything)- plus your property tax filings for ownership -- if you later file a disaster claim saying you lost numbers of animals/property in a disaster... Or lacked feed for so many cattle because of a drought/disaster and receive feed/pasture payments/assistance .. Or whatever of the thousands of other type claims almost every farmer/rancher files to get government teat money anymore...
Back in the old days when all Montana cattle were on the property tax roles - I can remember a local producer who filed a claim for hay/feed assistance for hundreds and hundreds of head of cattle (probably owned 200-300) --but had only showed on his property tax filings- and only paid taxes on 50 head....One of the things he also forgot was that both the county tax folks- and the USDA folks had access to was the brand inspection records that showed he'd sold 250 head of calves... :???:
And the sad/comical part of the whole situation was that producer was one of the committeemen/board members of the local FSA board...
The standing local joke used to be that the ranchers teased the farmers about the "mailbox roll" in their caps that came from looking into the mailbox waiting for the government subsidy check-- but now over the past 20 years or so- and especially with all the "conservation easement/payments" and Eqip moneys its became the joke that ranchers hat brims have a bigger "mailbox roll" than the farmers caps....
