There are things that you are not suppose to feed to cattle, maybe they are checking to see if you are feeding animal byproducts.

What could anyone feed a cow that someone else might end up eating that they wouldn't care to admit to? Curious about what they were looking for as well? Understanding that these folks can be more official than they need to be, I hope your answer was a little more pro active than some are suggesting. Up here these types have so much power that they sometimes abuse it and even if they are wrong or cause needless hardship they are unaccountable. Hope it turns out O.K. for you.
