Our small bunch of 2's and 3's stood on the berm for the whole day, finally had the dogs bring them down and across the creek.

Speaking of being lost......

Nice pictures that sheep with the bucket on his head is the best looking sheep I have ever seen :D . It is nice to see good dogs working as well. Can I send mine up for you to train? Hope all goes well

Great dogs you have there, Dylan. It appears that you have a great handle on them and you are afforded the role of photographer instead of herder once in awhile.

Good to see the sheep pics too. I see that lambs are worth quite a bit of money here stateside. $2.00 / lb. or so?? Sounds like a good payday and a long time coming. So long that there aren't many sheep to be had. I don't know what the wool price is anymore. I lost track after the U.S. wool incentive went the way of cheap gasoline.

Wonderful pictures Dylan, I enjoy seeing your dogs work :D . Do you keep your dogs kenneled when not working, or do they go with you during the day?

Cure, glad you liked the sheep pic.
As regards your dog, I have my hands full with my younger King.
:)
HP, lambs are through the roof here also, with no end in sight. Domestic demand keeps climbing with the ethnic market and supply is stagnant at best. We have more demand for ourLamb direct then we have supply for. As regards wool price I haven't checked lately. These sheep are all last years purchase, getting back in, should not have sold out in 04, have to select for Range adapted again, our old flock was a range lambing hands off flock.

George for me they are.

HD, thanks, hope you can put away the rubber boots at some point this year.

WR, they go with me during the day most of the time. When they are not with me they are contained somewhere.

Nicky, Without my dogs, seeing as I am a cripple now, NR described me as moving like a Peak Dot bull 3 days into the breeding season and thats sort of how it feels, my hip is worn out, I might have to break down and get a 4 wheeler. King has been in a few posts, he is coming along slowly but surely. There are days.....he likes his own agenda more than mine. :)

Nice pics Dylan. I think things might be green there again this year...

I really admire how those dogs of yours work stock. I'd love to pick your brain for training tips cause dogs like yours would sure be handy. Thanks for sharing your part of the world and your gifts as a dog trainer with us. :D

Great dog pics Dylan. can watch good dogs working all day. I am new on here so you have probably said at one time or another, but do you buy or raise your dogs, either way they look good and you have done a nice job training!!

GOOD DOG X3. And they sure are!!

Why do I think you got those dogs already trained? Somewhere or
sometime I thought you said that. Have I lost it?

At any rate, they sure do a nice job!! Thanks for the pictures
showing them at work, It's always interesting.

RSL, no shortage of potential, not counting my blades of grass quite yet though. :)

Leanin H, they have there good days and some not as good. That little female is a bit rough on these sheep. She's used to cows and is having a bit of a time adjusting. You are free to pick my brain any time you like, you might find the pickings pretty slim though. :)

Turkey Track, I have a few more if you like. :)
The dogs I have now were all purchased as pups.

Soap, thank you. I am honored you get some enjoyment from good dogs. As regards the other kind it is undeniable. I can't claim my dogs are perfect either but still helpful enough to keep around.

Thank you FH, always someting that can be worked on.

Last years calves to the north.

Of course one hiefer has to sneak in behind the tractor to visit the young breds.

With a bit of help Trixie tracks her down.

One of the best dogs I ever had served as a livestock dog during the day with me and a K9 dog with me on the sheriff's Dept at night.

When I fed he would guard the gate but after a while I think he would get bored and let one slip thru so that he could put it back. This happened about 3 days in a row and I lost it. I am never mean to animals and I'm ashamed of myself but I hauled off and kicked my dog!

He never let one slip thru again!

This dog lived a good long life and was great till the end even though he had almost no teeth, three legs and one eye. He got blind sided by a new Charolis cow and was killed by her at 15 tears old. I tried to let him stay at the house but he was determined to do his job till the very end and he died doing what he loved to do! I was not allowed to take him on patrol after he was 10 and I gave up K9 rather than replace him.

I have several OK dogs now and have had several OK dogs over the years but one great dog will spoil you!

That's definately the truth.

We had an Aussie bitch that would sort cattle like Dylan's dog. Once you showed her which one you wanted she never mistook for another one.

George and Gcreek, a fellow has to appreciate the heck out of them when they are with you cause once they are gone .......well.

The thing is you never know how good the next one might or might not be until you get another one. Might turn out better. When my old Cap died I figured I was done, but this little Trixie dog has plenty to offer also, so you never know. Life is loss, she's a one way ticket, no point not looking forward to the next great one.

WR, like ggreek said about his Aussie once she knows which one she doesn't need a tag.

Thanks for your kind remarks.

Cattle have come through in good shape for sure.

Will start calving in about 3 weeks.

Unfortunately I have had 3 abortions out of my heifers the first two, about 5 weeks ago the vet figured from ruptured umbilical cord and kidney failure in the calves too much blood to process. From falling on the ice.

Then the most recent one just saw the hiefer hadn't cleaned, heifers are out, found no remains, didn't take the time to hunt, big pasture.

Oh well as my Grandma use to say "always something to keep the rabbits tail short. :)

Dylan

When you are using three dogs at once. Are they trained well enough to do things themselves or when you give commands does each dog have its own (but different from other two) command so you can control each one seperate. I see in one of your pictures the dogs seem to be holding but one is standing and one is down. Just curious how you control the dogs at the same time?

They are awesome. I could look at your dog pictures all the time. I just love good dogs.
