needed a couple bearing for the baler , called ahjead they had them on the counter. Ended up getting the parts and a new baler, feel bad when I got home think I got too much for the trade in as I looked over the old baler there not much there over salvage value.
 but then they proball;y figured that too :???:

I wouldn't feel to bad. I'm sure they have got to you before, and probaly will again. They always do around here anyway. Even if it is with the parts they make a killing on.

Might be nearly the same thing happen here, gearbox on the discbine blew up today. Our son found another 1411 NH that we've been looking for as a second cutter close to where he lives.

The 1431 we took to town as it was too big for our rough ground may be involved in the trade. :D

It reaches a time when downtime due to repairs is more expensive then making payments in my opinion. I bit the bullet 3 years ago and bought a new moco and never looked back. The new moco cut the mowing time in 1/2 or more over the previous mower. The best part is they allowed far more then I thought it was worth for a trade in, :D

I'm at that point with my CIH 8330 moco. Should have (always clear after the fact) done it last year. Got half the value of the thing in parts into it since then. :x

Missed a really cheap one at an auction last fall but I'm sure there will be another one that suits my needs and budget.

Day late and a dollar short - story of my life!

But I have NEVER gone to buy a new bearing and bought a new baler! Man that's progress!

Any machine that has not been bounced through the rocks and mud here is new, regardless of age!
It appears to be possible operator error. Had hit a couple of bad rocks earlier, nudged a hummock/rock as I was lifting over, topcap likely went first and took out the output shaft/interior cage before slip clutch slipped. Maybe a little too tight?

Never fails, week of hot weather and broke down.

You sure do have a good forecast for the next week. Surely you'll be up and running before it's over?

Nothing worse than being broke down when stuff is ready and waiting . . .

I believe the baler is likely a throw in with the overpriced bearing. I have the same problem with hats. I go and buy a new hat/coat and they keep throwing in free parts or bulls or other great stuff.

The good deal on trade in parts staggers me. We have been told that our equipment was in great shape but they wouldn't take it on trade. It has opened up the private market for used equipment as you can buy it cheaper than at a dealer and the seller gets more than they would on a trade.

That's how I like to buy my equipment. If the previous owner can get an extra grand by having me buy it rather than at the dealership, I'm more than happy with that deal. It's not like the dealer can tell you anything about the history of a piece of equipment.
