(Neb.)-Alliance Man Named Vet Of The Year
By: Chris Fankhauser Posted at: 02/25/2008 05:54 AM
ALLIANCE, Neb. (AP) - An Alliance veterinarian has been honored as the state's top vet for 2007.
Dr. Robert Stout, who has been a vet since graduating from Iowa State University in 1971, says opportunities for veterinarians have increased along with the attachments people have to animals.
The Nebraska Veterinary Medical Association gave Stout the award, its 112th since its establishment in 1896.
Stout says that there is a big concern because the industry is not producing enough vets who meet rural demands. He says many vets want to care for pets.
