Our grandson is looking for a 2001-2004 Dodge 3/4 t 4x4 pickup with a manual transmission. He'll take a regular cab. Personally, I think it's not smart for him to have a diesel, but he's pretty determined. He's a fine young man so I told him I would help him find one. No junk, please.
(And from past posts I know some on this site think Dodges are junk~ :P  but please don't rain on his parade. :D )

He's 19 and currently enrolled in a Tech College, planning on becoming an Industrial Electrician.

If you know of such pickup, either post it here, or send me a PM. We thank you very much.

Quick Faster Horses! You need to have an intervention with that young man!!   He is headed down a very slippery slope and you must act fast before its too late. I am an industrial electrician and i drive an 01 Dodge! You certainly dont want him turning out like me!

On a serious note, dodges from those years are hard to come by. They had great everything but a weak front end. I love mine even with 290000 on it. Good luck and will keep my ears open and send ya word if i hear anything out thisaway.

I know these years are hard to come by; but not impossible. I did find some on ebay, but the desireable ones are far, far away. Like far away as in New Jersey. :D

Talk him out of a manual transmission,he might enjoy it for the first while, but after a while it becomes a pain having to shift all the time.

Well, for most young guys, maybe. But not this one. :D He's driven manual transmissions since he was old enough to shift one. He's like his grandpa,
who at 67, got his first automatic transmission in a pickup. Grandson has a Ford pickup with a manual transmission and he never complains about having to shift that, ever. That pickup is a gas hog, as it's a 460.

Thanks for your reply, though. :D I will mention it to him, but he's pretty dead-set on a manual. If I was him, I wouldn't buy a diesel...

Did your search turn up this one, FH? It's in PA, but looks to be in great shape, clean Carfax and has leather interior. He could fly out and drive back or get someone to bid on it on u-ship. http://m.autotrader.com/vdp.html?id=352835469

I just traded my Dodge in. If it was gas, I'd still have it, but only using it for a daily driver I felt I was sitting on a time bomb everytime I drove it. Unfortunately it was a '10 or I'd give you the name of the place I traded it to.

Thanks! He's in tech school now, so has no time to fly around. I will pass it along though. Pa is still closer than New Jersey!

HUMMMMM???...thinking... :D

Neighbor got a payout from insurance on a dodge dually with a million 2 KMs which is 750,000 miles for $15,000 and bought a real nice well kept 2004 with 250,000km or 150,000 miles for $16,000. :?

Hey FH, here is a link to a dodge on truckpaper.com. It doesn't say whether it is a manual or automatic, but it might be worth a call.

I have a '99 Dodge with the Cummins. The Cummins is the only good thing about the truck, the rest of the dodge part is just junk. FWIW

The 5.9 Cummins was a very good engine, there's no arguing that.

Thanks.
Thanks.
And thanks. Appreciate the help.

I thought I had found one close by that was going to be sold at an auction.
Everything was right--1999 with 66,000 miles on it. But it wasn't a Cummins.

That one in Mission SD doesn't look too bad. I'll have to check on it.
Thanks Triangle Bar.

Darn kid called today and told me about a 1979 Grand Am  . His dad loves those muscle cars and his head is easily turned (obviously) :P . I told him we weren't going to help him buy a Grand Am like that; he'd kill himself in it. :D So maybe the problem is solved!!!!

Quality Motors in Rapid City deals nothing but that age of Dodge truck, and a few Powerstroke Ford's. We've bought two this last year and he sells nothing but really well kept older trucks. It's definitely worth a look. Located on Deadwood Ave. just a few blocks past Rapid Chevy.
