Okay folks, you asked for it. The last I checked, the vote was 17 in favor of seeing the pictures and 6 against. The bad pictures are number 4 and number 5 so you can still turn back now. Here goes.

Oh Soapweed!...Ouch! I am so sorry to read and see about your accident,,but being the tuff Sandhills rancher that you are, you'll be just fine. I'm like Lilly though,,really glad it wasn't your camera finger...So glad that Peachy was within a phone calls reach to rescue you...as I'm sure she's done many times already..lol Take care of your hand....

Fortunately it is a long way from the heart.

Sorry for you but be happy it was not worse

Now you resemble all the old guys I know! Pretty much all of them are missing a part somewhere.

Best thoughts to you.

Regards

Everyone gets an ouwee oncew in a while but yours sounds more than just a little painful. Just stay away form the heavy meds and heal up. Good luck with the calf shipping. :D

You shoulda heard Jan holler when I called her in here. Mild to what Peach had to say, Ill bet. I got all of the same finger on the other hand. It is probably hurting more now than when It happened. Thank God it is no worse.

Ouch! That looks like she hurt plenty bad! I though I had it bad squashing my finger in a hydrant and temporarily losing my nail. But losin' part of your finger! Thoughts and prayers with you. Hope you get well soon. You may have to revert to hunt n' peck typing! :D

I'm guessing by the fact there were pictures taken, that it didin't hurt right away, am I wrong?

Nice pictures.

[edit]
just read the SMI, it's funny how things like that don't have pain. I just did a chain saw safety class yesterday, the instructor said when people cut their thigh from an idiling chian, sometimes you don't even know it until you start feeling your boot get wet from the blood. Fortunately the one time I had a kickback go into my leg while cutting brush I was wearing chaps, and they worked. The polyester wound up in the chain/sprocket and stopped the blade.

Hope the finger heals well.

Sorry to hear about your accident. It looks like that will be a bit of an inconvenience for a time. Hope you can still get your calves rounded up and shipped off. Prayers to the Great Physician who heals all our "diseases" are going up for you! A good reminder that even the simple, everyday jobs can be dangerous. Take care!

Hey soapweed, I showed these pictures to Mr Lilly.....he said...sorry bout the finger, but he wants to see a picture of the rest of the pumpjack.....if its not too much trouble, thanks.

And OUCHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

Thanks to all of you for the kind words. Brady, who helped us during calving, had a cute saying: "I've been by myself a lot but have never been short-handed or lonesome." With this recent goof-up, I feel both "short-handed" and "lonesome" for my missing finger. :-) Oh well, the Good Lord has always in the past pulled me through my predicaments, and He will do the same now. Life is still good. :-)

Jersey Lilly, the pumpjack is now in town at my welder son's shop to get a shield put in place so this doesn't happen again. At the next opportunity, I will try to take a picture of the outfit.

Looks bad Soap. When it is healed you might have a keyboard issue. When typing d's you might hit the c and you might not be able to reach the e. Might need a custom keyboard built. I hope it heals fast and you don't stick any other fingers where they don't belong. In the mean time it will be like an override button. You can stub your toe and the finger will still have most of the pain.

I can't beleive you had the presence of mind to whip out your camera and take a picture of it... with one hand no doubt!

My sister in law lost the first bone of her right index finger to a wool machine. When she yanked back her hand at the first hint of it being trapped she exclaimed " Man that was close" and then she saw her finger missing the end of the digit. It was a disappointing surprise to say the least.
It healed well but because she held it up toward her body while it was healing to offset the throbbing when she held it low, she developed a frozen shoulder that took about 2 years to recover from. Snowball affect.

I know that won't happen to you. Happy healing!
