To all of my family, friends, and to those I don't know, living in and around Okanogan County, I wish you all protection from the wildfires and a swift recovery from this disaster.

These fires are so devastating. We took the loggers out of the woods 30 or 40 years ago to "protect" our forests. Today nature is cleaning up the forests we have neglected, and it ain't pretty.

The fastest moving, and closest to being deadly part of the Rock Creek fire, was the provincial park 1/4 mile North of our place. So much undergrowth and deadfall that was tinder dry, it went through there like burning a match box. 200+ campers didn't even have time to get to their vehicles. If that park had been grazed, even lightly, and locals allowed to clear deadfall for firewood, it would have burned a lot different than it did.

Meanwhile, in Montana, the governor has asked the Feds to be allowed to use State aircraft to fight fires on Federal land.

This country continues to get crazier.

That cannot be true. A particular liar here said many times that the Feds have plenty of resources to maintain the Federal Lands and the states have none.
BOZEMAN -
Governor Steve Bullock says federal restrictions are hampering firefighting efforts in Montana.

In a letter bullock sent today to the USDA, he outlines an incident where firefighters in a state aircraft were ordered by the feds not to fight a fire they spotted on federal land.

Bullock says the decision was based on the fact that the land was under federal jurisdiction.

At another point in the letter, Bullock noted instances where firefighters had to wait for approval while fires continued to burn.

The governor asks the secretary of agriculture for the USDA to throw out restriction on state aircraft, so they can fight any fires they come across.

The way I understand it, they have Viet Nam vintage helicopters that can pick up 600 gallons of water to fight fire, but the feds are
banning those due to safety reasons.......and they think a fire can be fought with helicopters that can only pick up 100 gallons at
one time........

Here is an unfortunate look at cattle ranching and wildfire:
