Watering already?

I was coming home from a bull sale today and I saw pivot running west of Valentine, Ne. He's a friend of mine, from the looks of the field it might have been rye or triticale or something like that because there were cows on the field. Seems kind of early to be watering but they haven't had any moisture all winter. I tried fixing some fence today but I refuse to pull wires out of snow drifts to fix fence unless I have to. There are some drifts that are still 5-6 feet deep. One year I fixed fence this time of year and had to do it all over again after an April blizzard. :lol:

It's one of the driest springs I've ever seen up here-no irrigatio till you get about 200 miles south of us.

I would gladly share to 3 to 6 inches of rain we getting. You are responsible for moving it to your area .

Well we got a nice shower here on Sunday night, not nearly enough to get things going but when it's this dry we'll take whatever we get.

Hard frost again last night but it's to get up t0 12 -15C for the rst of the week.

Seems to me that we usually get some really crappy weather around Good Friday. S we''' see what the weekend brings.

I was on the verge of starting my pivot. We are not getting any run off from the mountains this year. We have been in 5 years of drought here. Like I tell my wife we are renting our ranch from the power company. We pay 12 cents a KW for electricity. But now the good news; we are in the middle of a nice little storm! Other than the 6 inches of wind, the inch of rain is just what the doctor ordered.

Well, i live on the other side of the mountain from Jeff,quite a bit more water on this side,we're on the headwaters of the Feather river,although it's amazing how quick it can dry out,the wind around here is incredible.It's been back and fourth on weather,last week everyone was out working ground and it was getting dusty allready,last two days have been windy as all heck,gale force, now turning to rain and snow for next few days.Back to winter for us.But we are greening up nicely in the pastures.Sold some rxr ties to a guy at Lake Davis,still 3 feet of snow there,8-9 feet on the mountains.Renting our ranch from the power company,ain't that the truth,Amen :wink:
