We're getting a Vemeer 605SM. Mike did alot of research (Thank You all for your input, it helped alot!!!!
) So the reasons why we're getting what we're getting are:
-No used ones whatsoever in this area, of any type
-Vermeer has 0% financing for 3 years...that will make our payments less than what we were paying each year to get our hay baled.
-With the amount of hay we put up and the way Mike likes to maintain equipment we think it will last us A LONG time.
-Won't have to wonder if we are getting someones problem baler.
-Considerably cheaper than John Deere
We're pretty excited, Mike is calling it his 'birthday present'. I keep saying it's MANY birthday presents
So our next question is are there some parts you should keep on hand? Our dealer doesn't sell alot of Vemeer products and said that it can be hard to get parts occasionally. (We didn't think that was enough of a reason to pay extra for a different brand). He said usually all you need are pickup teeth, and stuff to fix the belts.
Feel free to keep up with the advice on how you feed round bales...we won't have to worry about that til next fall.
