We need imports labeled and illegals deported.

But your old cow/bull beef don't have to be age verified or anything-- and do you think your Packer buddies are going to really raise the prices that much in Canada-- or use those closing/slowed down slaughter plants to keep stealing them and drop the prices in the US.... :???:

The reason I used those 2 markets I quoted- are that they are less than 125 miles apart for comparison...

My understanding is that the border will be open to animals born after 1999. If so, the age will have to be determined before export. The Assinibioa market probably has very low volumes this time of year. I think you will see a strong Canaian dollar will afect the markets alot more than the imports of 8 years and younger cows from a herd 1/10 th the size of yours!
here is what I would worry about if I was a yank, in this order
1) national debt
2) china owning a large portion of your t bills
3) your foreign dependencey on oil
4)lowering education levels of your citizens
5)china trade deficit
6)recession
.
.
10,986) canadian cows coming and destroying your cow market

Let's deal in facts and not in what Oldtimer may have heard or may be making up. (Read lie)

Specifically, the ruling allows Canada to export live cattle born after March 1, 1999, the date Canada ostensibly rid itself of ruminant feed associated with BSE. It also allows Canada to export small intestines without the distal ileum, casings, blood and blood products.

Canadian authorities will be responsible for certifying the age of cattle up for export, and those animals will have to bear a permanent brand or tattoo indicating their country of origin, as well as ear tags identifying them as Canadian.

However, USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service doesn't expect the flood of cattle it once did, having slashed its original projection of some 650,000 down to 75,000 for 2008.

"The number of theses older animals that can have their ages verified, meaning confirmation that they are born on or after March 1, 1999, is limited," Clifford said.

The January 2005 final rule, the first MRR rule, allowed the importation of Canadian bovine meat and meat products of any age. Subsequent to the publication of the final rule in January 2005, USDA delayed the applicability of those provisions of that final rule that dealt with meat and meat products from animals 30 months of age or older. With this final rule published today, that temporary delay in applicability is lifted and importation of these meat and meat products now can occur.

Two things, If the cattle price drops here in the US. ,it drops everywhere else. The Canadian dollar will be higher priced this fall then the US dollar so we can then start shipping our old cows into the Canadian packers. Before 2003 we use to ship our spent cows to Ontario, they were worth more in Canada.

Canada has accepted US cows for slaughter for some time.

You little boys sure enjoy any excuse to call me (outright and by implication with the "gin or" other booze drinker connotation) names. But oh, how you squeal when I call any of you a "packer basher" or lump COOL proponents together as leading consumers to falsely believe it will make safer beef available!

Have your twisted fun! I freely admit, with little embarrassment that I failed to notice the inclusion of fruits and nuts along with all you COOL-ies in that story! Truly few people NEVER make a mistake, those of you posting on this thread included.

The REAL disgrace is people like many of you who fail to admit you are promoting a fraud (COOL as a beef safety guarantee) on consumers which will damage the US beef industry.

The thing that concerns me most remains that this illusion of beef safety and higher quality attributed to beef produced ONLY in the USA. What is going to happen to the present level of consumer loyalty to beef when they learn they have been duped by that illusion? And they will. Illusions don't last long.
