Looking at the weather forecast- this seemed to fit the bill for the next couple days....

I guess I shouldn't complain- because we've had some beautiful calving weather so far- and we need the moisture (would rather see it in May and June as rain) but they are predicting a couple inches of wet snow for tonite- and up to 6 inches for Saturday with blizzard conditions north of the Missouri..... :(
Must be something coming- because the cows had kind of slacked off with calves for a couple days and then today hit into high gear again- and my old buddy Arthur Itis has been really acting up....

You guy's hush about bad weather I have a guy coming from Miles City to get his new Trailer Tomorrow of course he's leaveing today sometime.

Didn't get much out of the first little storm- what snow came melted as it came- and just enough to get the ground wet enough that mud would stick to your feet...

But today- storm #2 hit....Snowing pretty good out- ground is white with wet, wet snow...A couple inch's already at the north place...Weather boys say could get 4 to 6 inchs...

Good moisture- and not much wind yet- but thats supposed to change and pick up out of the northwest about 30 mph....
Don't sound good for the little calves coming...

I was hoping to make it to the bullriding tonite- (went last night and those Berger bulls scattered cowboys everywhere- he brought some of his good bulls)- but might have to stay home checking babies if this snow keeps coming...Probably drive out and check before I head to town- then check again when I get home.....

This is not looking good...

THE POTENTIAL EXISTS FOR A PERIOD OF WET AND HEAVY SNOW ACROSS MUCH OF THE AREA. THE SYSTEM WILL EXIT LATE MONDAY NIGHT.

A WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM SUNDAY EVENING THROUGH MONDAY EVENING.

SNOW IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP SUNDAY NIGHT... AND BE HEAVY AT TIMES THROUGH MONDAY. TOTAL ACCUMULATIONS OF 5 TO 10 INCHES OF WET HEAVY SNOW ARE POSSIBLE ACROSS THE PLAINS BY LATE MONDAY EVENING.

GREATEST AMOUNTS WILL LIKELY BE ALONG THE EASTERN SLOPES AND FOOTHILLS. MOUNTAIN LOCATIONS MAY RECEIVE EVEN MORE SNOWFALL...

WITH 10 TO 15 INCHES POSSIBLE. SNOW WILL DIMINISH LATE MONDAY NIGHT.

A WINTER STORM WATCH IS ISSUED WHEN SEVERE WINTER WEATHER IS POSSIBLE BUT NOT IMMINENT. AT THIS TIME THERE IS POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT ACCUMULATIONS OF WET AND HEAVY SNOW. RANCHERS MAY WANT TO TAKE PRECAUTIONS TO PROTECT YOUNG LIVESTOCK. THOSE PLANNING TRAVEL OR ANY OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES SUNDAY NIGHT AND MONDAY SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR WINTRY WEATHER. PLEASE MONITOR FUTURE FORECASTS AND STATEMENTS FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE.

We've been waiting for our "spring storm"......looks like tomorrow. We'll keep watching on updates because storms here can split and be north and south of us :? and we won't get anything. I certainly won't mind this storm, if it is true, we can spend tomorrow getting prepared....

OT, looks like this one will go south of you...

Hanta your forecast mentioned Burgess Junction. I wouldn't want to traveling that road is anything but sunny weather. We went thru that way once with the truck and stock trailer. I was happy the weather and roads were fine. :)

Yep- Hanta it sounds like that one could be nasty- and they say it will go south of us... Ours quit here just before dark- we got about 3 inchs of wet snow-- then we got wind for awhile, but now that is dying down too....

I know of a couple calves that came during it- but they seem to be doing fine....Don't even know who the mother to one is as when I found it in the storm- it was an old cow that calved a week ago that was cuddled up to it and both calves blocking the wind- new one was alert and had a full belly....Couldn't see far in the snow- so just left them alone for tonight....Took in the bull riding and now when I just checked- momma has moved that calf somewhere (hopefully behind a windbreak)...Other one has hers tucked away in the willows and it looked plumb snug and out of the wind there...

Hanta Yo, where did you find that weather forcast? I just looked at several weather sites and I sure can't find much snow in the forcast for your area.

Perhaps they changed the forcast from when you looked last.
Anyway, I would like to know the site you use for weather.

Thanks!

Had an ETO ( Emergency Travel Only) out of Great Falls at around 2pm yesterday. Roads were really bad. High winds and blowing snow. Could see only for 1/4 mile. Really bad until around 4-5 pm.
Nice and sunny this morning. Glad for any moisture we get.

Yep- little nippy here at sunrise....Got down to 2 Above...But the sun is out and its up to near 30 today....Looks like the new calves came thru the storm OK and are enjoying sunning themselves today...

This moisture should help get the grass greening up if it gets in the 60's like they predict for later in the week....

Started snowing after lunch yesterday and continued til sometime after midnight. Got around 3-4" out of it. Pretty happy with it. Better then getting nothing. :D

Had fires go tearing through our area a week ago. Burned over 6000 acres. Winds were blowing over 50mph. Husband left for one at about noon and got home at 6am the next day. He froze the truck up because it got down to 15 above zero.
