Weather prognostication for our Sandhills area

Goose Egg in North Texas. We were supposed to have 90% chance of thunderstorms overnight with rainfall amounts near half an inch!!! LOL - Dream on......

Not gonna be any cattle left around here if it don't really rain good the next three months.

We could see exodus from cities.

10-16 inches with 45 mph winds here through Monday. Zero visibilty drifts expected 6-10 ft in some areas

Newborn Galloway calves toughing it out

Warm, 25-30 degrees.

:D

So do you cut holes in the floor boards when you go ice fishing in a Honda Civic?

No my friends drove a pickup with the portables and the gear I drove up later with my wife after she got off work. My dad has a van though with holes in the floorboards for that very purpose. He's handycapped and it works quite well has a propane wall furnace in it also.

I watched a little of the Sodak Angus sale today on DV Auction-- and it was late getting started because they had buyers stuck in the snow getting into their yard- and they had to get them pulled out first....

Say Denny, how about a few pic's of your ice fishing houses/shanty's /shacks or whatever you call them. Please..... and thank-you

Speaking of ice fishing-- here is my granddaughter ice fishing with her Dad on Saturday....As you can see- the predicted snowstorm pretty much missed us- and all we got was some wind and flurries today...

Hotdogs and hot cocoa to keep up the energy...

Nice fish. :D Bet she was happy.

I was just on the phone to my daughter and she was planning a ice fishing/wiener roast for next Sat. They live in a town right on a lake so were out on the ice today for a walk. :D

Oldtimer,

No snow at Sodak Angus sale. We got nothing here in Northwestern South Dakota. Was at the sale today and they got along good. Bulls look a lot better in person than they do in their videos.

You are correct- another brain faht... I need to quit watching so many of these bull sales  ... It was the Rydeen Farms - Vision XV (Clearbrook, MN) sale that came on an hour before Sodaks that had the snow problems...

Sodaks didn't look bad-- looked to be in better shape than Mohnens the other day as those appeared to be ready to go to slaughter...

Hope those of you that are dry got some moisture. Mark Mosel with Soil Works in Nebraska was at our conference this past week and he said the county he's in is terribly dry. Crazy how it can be so wet/deep snow for some of us and bad dry for others. We've been plowing snow to get feed to the cows all winter.

Pure Country; here in the NE panhandle we have scattered snowfall, scheduled to last 48 hours. (til it melts in) My overalls were soaked to the knees but there was 2" of dust on the the soles of my Muck Boots. Probably .3", the most since September, when we had .45".

Yes, wherever we feed cows, the ground turns to pulverized dust. We Scourguarded the cows Friday, and I went through a bunch of needles, the cows are just filthy :? . This makes 2002 look like a picnic.

Denny- I didn't even pay any attention- I was just getting the computer hooked up for the Sodak sale when I heard them talking about the snow...Then I got tied up with something else and never even paid any attention...

Back to it being dry--we have a neighbor that works for the Forest Service and he
just got back from spending several days in Oklahoma City learning more aout drought and fire.

Doesn't sound good.
We got hardly nothing but wind out of this last storm. It was more of
a windstorm than anything.
