We got a little rain last week and it is turning green and making grass grow a little. Last Monday I got ¼ inch and that was the most I had had since early May. Then Saturday evening I got a good inch. That was more than we have had at one time since January. So total for the week I make it 1.25 inches and loving it. I put out some more fertilizer Friday just in time for the rain on Saturday so if we get a few more showers along and I get a cutting in late August I could still get a skimming in October. I just may make it through the winter after all but I won't have any hay to sell to help cover the cost of fertilizer.
4 X 5 rolls are selling for $60 right now. I would hate to have buy one this February. There won't be any so it will have to be trucked in and cost well over $100 each.
I hate to think it but I see a storm brewing in the gulf and it may take some storm type rain to keep us going.

Alabama, glad to see you got some of the rains Saturday...I missed it all!!! All I get are the twenty minute rains...wets the hood of the truck for twenty minutes. Haven't had any measurable rain since early May...was dry then and got less than a quarter inch. I have less than a tenth of my bare minimum needs for winter hay in the barn. Needless to say, I already have my sell list. Did Mike get any?
Take care, Robert

I think the rain was wide spread around here Saturday. I hope Mike got some.
Robert; It will rain soon in mississippi. Hang in there.
