I skipped church last Sunday night

Things got a little hot

New bull calf (I can tell because all the bulls are born with an orange tag, numbered so that mom will know it is hers)

Heifers are born with a yellow tag. This little gal is curious

This graft is going to take.

Another new addition Oh! by the way, I started calving this week.

Was that planned or unplanned fire? Calves look good...how's the heifer calving going?

Looking good . I'll bet you're happy the storm is tracking farther north. Let's hope you get gentle rains after you get most of your calving done .

The fire was from the muffler of a neighbor that was after coyotes in a CRP field. Lucky that it burned out of the CRP and onto his pasture where we could control it.

Big Muddy, you are just color blind!

I have come to the conclusion that the problems I had on heifers earlier must have been help from a neighbors bull, unbeknowenest to me. They have straightened out and coming very nicely of late. One heifer calved out a bull calf in 35 minutes , and had it sucking in an hour yesterday. Thats good enough for me. The graft picture is a 1st calf heifer, and another heifer's calf. The calf's mother died within minutes of giving birth-must have bled out inside. That incident wasn't very good!

That's very cool how the calves are born with the appropriate color coded tags :wink:
