I had to go for a drive to pick up a bull that was being delivered today so I brought my camera with me. Here's some shots I took along the way.

Took a few shots in Ordway. Picked up a friend there and he gave me a tour. Those poor people that lost their homes.

My blood boils every time I drive along this road. To think some of these ranches along here have been in the same family for 4-5 generations. Some with all 4-5 generations haven fought for there country. Only to have the army take their ranches away from them??? I think many of them have spent a fortune fighting it.

I know I know. Bulls are very dangerous and you should always respect them. I try to tell them but they will not listen. I finally get the bull unloaded after a long trip and they have to see how he rides. :?

Beautiful land and nice cattle!!!Great pics! I'm not sure who was sillier the gals on the bulls or the guys petting the cougar in Sports/Hunting .
 
Classic photos, Ned Jr. You live in a beautiful photogenic area. I feel bad for the ranchers losing their land to the military. As you pointed out, it just doesn't seem fair after many of those ranchers have fought in the military to keep the country free.

Great photos! Looks like you had a good snow pack on the east side of the Sangre's. I hear there is a bill in the state legislature to permanently remove the federal government's ability to eminent domain land here in Colorado. Hopefully the ranchers out there can still beat this land grab.

What was the time limit the gals had to stay on that bull? Had to be longer than 8 seconds. :) :)

We do have good snow pack. That's if the wind doesn't take it all away. It's been blowing terrible here. How about on your side?

I sure hope that bill passes.

I should of timed the bull ride but I know it was well over 8 seconds. My daughter's always riding our herd bulls. I keep telling her it's not very lady like.
 
Hey Ned Jr.,

The wind has been blowing real strong here especially this last week. My neighbors are plowing up their alfalfa fields to plant wheat this spring. I wouldn't be surprised if you could see the dirt cloud blowing over the mountain. :?
 
Thanks for the pictures. My Grandpa and several uncles ranch in southeast Colorado, so they keep us informed on the Pinon Canyon situation. It has been very frustrating for them.
 
Thanks for the tour today...ya know I hope you have lots of wall space in your house, cause with all the gorgeous pictures of your cattle set against the mts...you should have them framed and hanging. Thanks

I sure hope your family can get it stopped without it costing everything they have. As if drought, fuel cost and all the other things that make it hard to make a living ranching aren't enough. Now they have to fight the army.

What is the army actually going to use this land for? In the Badlands of SD there are old bombing ranges that probably haven't been used since WWII. So after decades of ranchers running cows on them, Uncle Sam comes in and has been spending huge amounts of money to pay (edited) to scour the sights looking for unexploded munitions....unbelievable IMO.
