Took a couple pics from the loading chute. The main building is a old Round House from Steam engine days. Make for a cold old barn but the have the offices and ring fixed up pretty good.

It wasn't a very big sale.about 950 hd.Wasn't the line up of trucks that show up in the fall.

You could see a big grain terminal in the back ground of the yard pics and this one is brand new this fall just across the field. There is a couple more not far from Assinaboia.

I picked up 15 nice grassers for my son. I was going to take a picture of the front row order buyers but when they found out I was posting them on the internet they said no. They were afraid they might be recognized from America's Most Wanted.

I think I saw that brass monkey somewhere in your pics. Is it still as cold as they photos look? Warmed up here today.

What was the market like?

Heat wave has hit tonite...Temp has gone up 15 degrees in less than 30 minutes...I checked the thermometer and it was 5 degrees-- 5 minutes later it was 15- and now up to 20....

The secret is to post first and ask questions later. Good pictures; thanks for the tour.

Yesterday morning the temperature stood at 17 below zero. It took until noon to get up to zero, and at sundown it was three below. This morning, already it is up to 22 degrees above. That is an improvement of 39 degrees in the past 24 hours. :-)

Yep -- getting up to 20 Above sure feels better than getting up to 20 Below...

20 Above this morning- but the wind is blowing pretty good...

22 here, feels good out of the wind.
Must be good grain country, looks like a lot of storage. Mostly wheat?

Sold our calves on Friday. Here are the results:

Steers - 24 calves, 669lb. @ $1.14

Hfrs. - 18 calves, 679lb. @ $1.07
- 10 @ 579lb. @ $1.09 1/2

plus a few odd smaller packages and singles. The calves were fairly good-haired and green (not fleshy).

Good prices for the way the markets are at present, but still far below what we need to make money. I was disappointed in the weights as well, but have to remember that the calves were only weaned a month before the fire and then moved to another barn only a month before they got sold. So they had a couple of strikes against them.
