If your going to receive free money through a government subsidy payment then don't you agree that you should adhere to some sort of rules and agree to certain terms to manage your land in accordance? If people don't like being told how they can manage their land then they don't need to accept the payment. The requirements are not that outrageously difficult to adhere to or comply with.[/quote]
I am not against them dictating things when they give away free money, but the list of prohibitions should be more clear. The FSA I goto is a well oiled machine. They get you in, they sign you up, you sign the paper, they get you out. IF you know what questions to ask, you would be in better shape.
Its my 3rd year on payments, and I just now finally got it all figured out. Its kinda one of those things you need to experience for yourself, or be taught. I jumped in blind, and I was caught off guard by some of it.
Once my DU projects expire, I will not stay signed up for the payments. I dont like being told what to do with my property, and I was not aware of the length of time your bound to the restrictions...but with that said, it has not been all that bad.
I can guarantee that I spend every penny they give me every single year. That money is much better spent by me than by some dope on welfare buying drugs....but at the same time I am not proud of the fact that I get it....actually a bit ashamed, but Im locked in by the DU projects, and if they are going to get to tell me what to do, I am going to get some cash out of it to keep improving things.
I have used the cash to rebuild the fences after IKE took them down. It was a blessing then...this year I used the money to improve a hay field...next year Im thinking about further pasture improvements. The fertilizer/seed shops are starting to like me. I like to spend every penny I get from the payments in the county at the local shops....I feel like the money is best spent that way...You can actually see the benefits when its done that way.
