ACS....
First, read what Jody and tta wrote. Now, re-read their posts. I hope you learn something from them.
Jody and tta, I am so sorry for your losses. I can only imagine the pain. Please accept my condolences.
I second what many here have said. Like lazy ace I can count the number of drinks I had under the age of 19 on less than one hand. I probably could have had a drink with dinner with my folks, but didn't. I had no desire, for what ever reason. There were several deterents from me "socially drinking" in high school. One was I lived a long way from town, down a very narrow, windy mountain canyon. Another was our strict no drug policy at school/extra curricular activities. I went to some parties, and drove lots of folks home, but didn't drink.
And, Angus, please take what several said to heart, and don't drink and drive, and don't ride with someone who's been drinking. We have buried two friends in the past nine months from the "riding with" scenario, and have seen one of our closest friends have his life turned upside forever.

Not only did he lose his best friends, but lost family, and a very successful professional career. I bet he'd change that day for anything and everything. And, as a county extension agent, I had two of my favorite and best 4-H kids die in a DUI accident. You know what??? They would have been of age in Canada.
In the USA, kids can go to war at 18 years of age, heck maybe even 17. But they can not legally drink until 21.
I have not been perfect ACS, and will admit to drinking underage, in college. But, I don't think I would do it today, knowing what I know now. This comes from someone who enjoys drinking a couple beers every now and then. But I am also 10+ years and several pretty bad hangovers wiser too.
Angus, if we haven't convinced you to stay away from booze until you're legal, think about this....your younger brother and sister look up to you for everything. You are their idol. Do you want them engaging in risky behavior because they are drinking underage....because it was ok for you to do it, so it's ok for them to do it?
Angus, you will have a lot of time to drink when you are of age. Enjoy your youth, but do it without booze.
Cheers....with Diet Dr. Pepper....
TTB
PS...drinking is a very expensive habit!
