What did you get for Christmas?

I didn't expect a thing this year. Everyone is so broke in my family and we got to a point where we just got together and "worked" on enjoying eachothers company(not a small thing to accomplish) :) There are no little ones to buy for so one year, I just bought gag gifts. Some fake teeth, whoopie cushions, those silly paddles with a ball attached you bat at. Dollarstore stuff ya know:) Here's a photo of the part of the family brave enough to show up:

So that was the last christmas we really got together. Dec. 2005. Anyway, this year I was overwhelmed by the folks I work for. My computer had gone belly-up just a week ago. No chance of buying another in the near future. Edie loaned me her laptop but all the while, come to find out, she and derrell were shopping for a rebuilt one for me. Talk about loving people. Then they gave me the prettiest cross necklace, and...........a crockpot! I think it's a rare thing in this world to find people to work for that actually become like family, sometimes even more so then your "blood" relatives.

By the way, that christmas no one had money to spend?? Was one of the best ever! We laughed til we almost wet our pants playing with those dumb teeth and wearing out the whoopee cushions:) Course, doesn't take much to amuse me and it runs in the family I guess:)

Was just the 4 of us this Christmas. Both kids got alot of what they wanted. Only the son had complaints :roll: he wanted toys, but got his bow, wrist protector, bow release and a penguin from his sister. :lol:
Daughter got her few toys and a vtech laptop. As bad as she was doing on it I guess she really needs the help. :D
Husband got that huge tap and dye set he really wanted and a little gas grill for the back of his truck during the towns Summer Celebration.
I got the cooking stuff I really needed. A new knife, cheese grater and a few other odd things.

Was a really nice day.
 
We went to the non-denominational (cowboy, more or less) church service on Christmas Eve night. The music was so good, especially memorable is the solo that a good friend of our family, and neighbor, sang....was awesome!
 
We got the best present ever! :D :D :D :D

A beautiful baby granddaughter! She was born on December 15, and what an extra great Christmas that made. We couldn't be happier. :D

The best presents don't have to cost much money. Hearing about your gag gifts reminded me of the year me and my brothers and sister got kazoos. What a blast we had with those, and I don't think they cost much more than a dollar at that time. None of us remember the gifts we got that year that were probably a lot more expensive and fancy, but even after all these years the kazoos still bring a smile. :D :D We drove our parents crazy with them. :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:
 
That's great and to be with family is the best of all, well, hopefully :wink: I remember getting bows and arrows one christmas. When I look back I am sure my mother must have had her concerns. We were 10 and 8 years old:) I don't remember shooting anyone, not on purpose anyway :lol: That Summer Celebration sounds wonderful! I love the sort of gatherings:)

Oh I love the Cowboy Church, I go to one up here sometimes. Eagle Valley CC. I love it when they play "Long Black Train" and some other oldies. They play Happy Trails at the end of each service! I go to a larger non-denom on Sunday a.m.'s but the EVCC meets on Saturday nights so I try and make it, especially in the Summer time as they meet outside:)

LOL, isn't it the truth! I remember gifts like a monkey that my grandma made out of those grey socks with red around the top? Then stuff them with her old nylons! And I saw him hangin up in the christmas tree christmas day morning!! I was so excited. Oh, and I do remember my Annie Oakley outfit, still have a pic of that, LOL!! I was so wanting to grow up and be her :wink:

Thanks so much for the kazoo story, I can just see you guys(and hear you)runnin around the house!!

spent at my older brothers in Eugene. This was back when my mom was still alive. She was always pullin a practical joke on some unsuspecting relative. That year it seemed to be my nephew Mike. Sort of a brainiac but not without a sense of humor. He was about 12 I think. Anyway, it was christmas morning and mom wasn't up yet. We heard Mike from the hallway saying "Ok grandma, I know you put this here and Im not gonna fall for it". Then we heard some sound and then him saying "oh grossssssssss" and then, darn you grandma. He thought that she had put some of that fake, plastic, puke in the hall for someone to find. So he kicked it and it wasn't fake, it was from their little dog who had a few too many christmas goodies snuck to him. It went everywhere and he had to clean it up. Meanwhile mom came out of her room and was wondering what all the comotion was about. Mike is now 42 and he has yet to live that one down :lol:
 
My grandma made me a sock monkey. Oh how I loved my lil monkey. This Christmas I was so lost in the 'toy dept' tryin to find gifts for all the little ones. But I found a sock monkey and bought it for my niece. If I'd thought of it, I'da made her one.

I have no idea what happened to my sock monkey. I've looked and looked thru stuff for him, over the years. :cry:
 
We moved around so much and mine probably got worn out:) He lives on in my memory bank though :lol: Neat that you actually found one in a store:) I can't remember ever seeing another since that one when I was 3 or so:) Have a great evening!! See you later, denise in Sams Valley OR
