My only contribution to this is....IF you think your school is safe and you have no worries then you are living a fantasy. The world has changed and it doesnt matter what rural or urban schools your children attend.
As far as teachers carrying guns? I would have to say I have mixed emotions. Do I want to see our schools treated as prisons? I really do not see any other way than to lock them down, it is the safest way. My old H.S. shut the doors and built a new school. It has one way in and one way out...with metal detectors and that is not a inner city school...scarey but true. The little school here, has not gone to a total lock down, but they have installed cameras in every possible intrance to the schools, the restrooms and majority of classrooms. Now again would I want a teacher to carry a gun into the school? NO...but for that teacher to be taught self defense and educated in tactical training YES. Times are so different for our kids today, that I would like to know there is someone there protecting them against terrorist entering our schools.
