In case you did not know I built another shooting range in the last week. We opened it to the public Thursday night for the first time. If you want some good clean fun check out the calendar for upcoming times for "Action Pistol" at fcvcc.org

The cost is only $5.00 so I feel most of you can afford to come. Notice every shooter has a Range Safety Officer at his shoulder at all times!

We prefer a 9 mm with soft lead projectile - - - anything smaller will not tip the plates and anything larger causes undue wear and early target replacement. If you have a 40 cal or a 45 we will not run you away but make sure you are using soft nosed bullets.

This was the first shoot there and we will probably make improvements as we go along, suggestions are very welcome!

If we could have any more fun for $5.00 a night the government would pass a law against it or try to tax it away!

Please watch the fun at https://youtu.be/W8SZ9U4Qu1U

Sign in starts at 5:00 PM with shooting to start at 5:30PM , we shoot until you run out of ammo or ½ hour prior to sundown - - - you do not need to be a member to attend but we ( I ) will try to get you to join - - - at $60.00 per year for a membership ( $65.00 for a family ) it is a great value and the dues help us continue to expand and improve the facility! There is a onetime $50.00 per family charge for initial training. By being a member you can shoot many disciplines on your own time!

Fall Creek Valley Conservation Club is ½ mile west of State Road 109 and ½ mile north of US 36 on Gilmore Road ( there is a large grain elevator at St Rd 109 and US 36 that makes a great landmark ). The mailing address is 1204 County Rd 610 S Markleville IN 46056 - - - County Road 610 South is Gilmore Road

Needed items
1)Pistol
2)Hip style holster
3)Magazine pouches ( speed loader pouches if you are using a revolver )
4)Eye and ear protection
5)Lawn chair ( sit under a shade tree and socialize with the other shooters while we go thru the rotation )

With the set-up shown it is taking about 3 minutes to run a pair of shooters thru so if we have 20 shooters you will rotate thru about twice an hour. If you listen to the video when the shooters are reloading you will hear most of the others are cheering them on so you will not be bored when not shooting!

Steve Bemish recommends you wear a fabric softener dryer sheet in the collar of your shirt to repel insects. This is in the woods so some type of repellent is recommended!

Come and have fun and meet some new great people!

Please forward this on to anyone you feel might like to join us!

Most of the club did not even know I was working till it was in operation. I took my Dozer, Backhoe and Skid steer and worked by myself for 2 1/2 days - - - behind the steel plate on the ground to the extreme right I put in a 12" culvert to keep everything dry, I sloped the ground at a rate of 1" per 10' to the drain and covered the area with reground asphalt. Once we have shot enough that I am sure we are on the right path I will put white crushed stone on the areas where we walk but do not shoot and the black in safe shooting areas.

If my first shoot is an example I have made most of the right moves here. This was a thicket we could not use for anything and I have been asking the board of directors for 3 years for permission to put this in - - - I finally wore them down and they said they would not help but would not stop me. 3 of the 5 members were in attendance as well as the president of the club ( who had helped me by holding the lazer stick and bringing much needed ice water ) and all stated we should have done this years ago.

I love it when a plan works out!

The club already had the targets but we had to shut the other operations down and spend a lot of time setting up to shoot action pistol - - - now we have our own area and the other ranges can still operate while we are in session and we can leave the targets in place - - - a win for all. You can view many of the other operations at Fall Creek Valley Conservation Club on both Facebook and / or utube
