What is a Brangus?

I don't know much about Speckled Parks,never see any around here, I think Northern Rancher might know something about them. Also about the shorthorn if you like different,if you like colour,you start getting roan in your herd and every calf is different.Try not to go too different with your cattle cause even if your allergic :wink: to money its darn nice to get.
 
yea, money would be nice :-) but i want soemthing a little different beacuse EVERYBODY that has cows have those 5 breeds, i was a different one so if they escape everyboddy wont wonder whos they are, our neigbours but one red cow in with all there black cows so we know where there from! :lol:

Try some of R Kaisers Galloways they look pretty good and hairy you would'nt need a heated barn with those.I have a friend who has some British Whites they kind of look like the Speckled Parks,good looking cows frame and udder wise.

Good idea Denny-- Now that is a breed I would like to try- have every since I read some of the studies the Montana University did with them-- If a guy could find a market that didn't discount them for being hairy...

I am leaseing 30 1/2 highlander cows from my uncle he sold everything else but did'nt want to much income this year they dont show too much hair they are bred to black angus bulls the problem there is he gets a few of those gray calves.I have a pair of red angus bulls that we will breed them to I have seen them crossed that way and it sure straightened them out.
I think those galloways bred to some slick haired angus cows would work well.
 
Unless you are really rich or have a good marketing program straying far from angus or red angus in your breeding program isn't usually the best way to start out.

She sure is good looking Northern! Do you end up with many that have the long low ears? Do they do OK or do you find they freeze? I've always wondered about that .
 
wow -93? wow thats cold. so ur saying i should stay with the good ol angus or angus cross? or galloways? theres nothing wrong with being hairy some of the greatest guys, umm i mean animals are hairy ! :P
 
Run the cows that fit your ranch and the bulls that fit your market-a good set of black baldie cows are hard to beat-you can breed them to a one eyed billy goat and still get a good calf.
