What is a Brangus?

Have you tried to get a conversation going on CattleToday? I think that they would be able to give you some information relative to what you are asking about here on Ranchers.net in a manner to which you could relate. Give them a try - I think you would fit right in with most of them. They could give you some information that you could take and use and benefit from on a daily basis.

sic 'em reds and Big Muddy Rancher - You BOTH should know better than that!! Canadian Cowgirl sounds like she needs some BASIC assistance, not the extensive details of which this forum is capable. You guys know what I am saying! Currently, on both Ranchers .net and CattleToday there are a group of very young beginners who are 'seeking' information of all kinds - some of it legitimate and some of it 'attention getting!' - In My Opinion. Your comment about my thinking you're a bunch of wise crackers - WRONG!

I worked for Bruce Church Ranch "Yuma Arizona" in the 50's
They had a Pure Brahman Herd and a Pure Angus Herd and bred Brangus - the best of both breeds (we hoped)

well as others have said, it is a x with angus and brahma. the reason that we have these breeds though is kind of interesting. the brahma is very disease and fly resistant. this being a minute problem in the northern climes, it is a big concern in the southern half of the u.s. . the brahma cattle will not bring thru the sale what the english and european breeds will, so the southern ranchers have to find a happy medium. the f1 cross cattle are very resilient and sturdy in more warm and or arid climes than their english cousins. there is nothing wrong with the Xbred cattle, they just work better down south.

really? ive always wanted to ride a bull or steer, cows just aint no fun, they just mozzy around :P but i doubt i would be able to stay on, i have a pretty good seat on calm waters but it gets rough and my face is in the dirt :P :lol: :lol:
