What to charge for hauling?

IF you did it out of the good of your heart, just ask for your fuel back, or fuel plus $50 to $100 for your time.

That is normally what we do. There is a little more to this. He will have to stay overnight, so will be gone a couple of days. He is to go one place, then to another, so gets a bit involved. Anyway, thanks for your reply. I'd kind of like to know a rate of some sort.

A rule of thumb that I have seen is the price of deisel/gal x loaded miles

$3.50 deisel x 300 miles = around $1,000

adjust up or down to your liking

I charged way to little to go to Nevada, obviously. I only got $1200 for 900 miles each way. He did pay the hotel, and 2 meals.

A good rule of thumb to know, I was thinking a little under that $2.75 to $3.00 per loaded mile. Just looked at some receipts from getting some hay hauled with semi pulling a pup. $6.10 a loaded mile.

I'd think a minimum of $3 a loaded mile plus expenses for food and lodging. Doesn't really matter that the trailer isn't full. What kind of fuel mileage do you get pulling the trailer?

I think around 12-13. It's a 2011 Dodge 1-ton dually 4x4. I checked in town today, diesel is $4.06!!!!!! We have the highest price fuel of anywhere.
Baker has it's own little cartel. :?

Thanks for your suggestion. We don't want to make a lot of money doing this, it's just that it costs a lot to haul something. If you blow a tire, it costs a lot to replace it, etc.
