Miss N. The-Hills said:Hello to John F. I imagine you were stylin' in your orange car.
I got my first car in 1984. It was a '69 Chevy Impala, and it was named "Bruise" because it was sort of that color. My favorite feature was that I could take the keys out of the ignition while the car was running. Good entertainment for my friends.
Hi there "Miss N"
They don't make 'em like your old Impala any more do they?
Yep, the Firebird was pretty neat. Back in 1971 my Grandfather found it for me in Alliance, NE (where he lived) with 18,000 miles on it, priced at something like $4000. I went to see it on a Sunday and decided to get it if I could but I only had $2500 to spend. He said he'd try to deal for me. After a couple weeks I finally heard from him with the good news! He said they were tough to deal with, but finally agreed to my offer.
It wasn't until many years after his death, that my Grandmother confessed that the car dealer wouldn't budge on the price. Since he wanted me to have that car so badly, he made up the difference.
How 'bout that for a Grand Dad?
