Liking my Chisum calves thus far and love the sitz upward heifers I have kept. I'm curious as to what deceased sires you have Denny.

I've got Sitz Value,Sitz Alliance 6595,Bennett Total,Sinclair Extra 4X13,Bando 9074,Koupels Juneau and S Chisum in black angus coming or in my tank. I also have 3 deceased herdsires in my tank we'll be useing plus a few straws of DDA Fahren 58f. We have 15 straws left of shoshone Viking GD60 but with the 3 sons we have I won't be useing it at this time most likely save it for 15 years from now.I did order 5 straws of Victor a hereford bull for the man cub.I get most everything from Genex a good friend is my rep and they have enough to keep me happy.

are you talking about 797(Dude) or Juneau himself?

797

Their bulls we owned one was a OCC Glory son,Another a Viking GD60 grandson and another Whitestone Fly Traveler son. Most likely very little interest other than to me.

I would also have to add GAR Expectation 4915 to my list. Gonna use a little of what I have left of him this spring.

I'm not a AIer but I have used sons of 6595 and really like them. I think two bulls that have been used heavy are QAS Travler 23-4 and Pine Drive Big Sky.

At one time I think Pine Drive had more daughters in production then any other sire.

This is interesting to me, as we used 6595 heavily and his daughters totally fell apart for us and our management system. We have used a lot of QAS 23-4 Traveler in herdsires over time and they worked really well. We have had good luck with Bando 9074 as well. We also used an AAR Windy son that worked really well.
For power growth SM with lots of carcass, Red Shocker was a good one for us.

Some bulls aren't for everyone or everyone's management program. Which i believe that sometimes it depends as much on the female as the bull to produce a superior animal. That's surprising though as here the Sitz Alliance daughters usually demand top dollar in the reg sales. I've used 9074 but never retained any females but have been breeding some of a friends cattle to 9074 and he loves the outcome. Hands down the best herd bull I ever used was a War Alliance son out of a Boyd New Day cow. He was the total pkg producing equally well for me and two other farms regardless of what sex calf was born.

I am guessing this is a question of opinion based on personal experience, and my reply is Mytty In Focus. Not my cows, but I was there through the process during three calf crops (so I obviously didn't see any old daughters); but for a a calf that cloned a maternal heifer, he was the bull. His sons were born snorting and looked like a bull when they got up to suck. There will probably never be an EPD for what I call gender expression, but in my time feminine heifers make cows, and bulls will show their potential pretty young.
These are obversations of a fairly modern AI program, and I am well aware this bull was highly advertised, and used, but I'll bet I can drive by some of his daughters, and grand-daughters making a living for a commercial outfit right now.
