What would you say to Brazilian beef producers if you told them they need to stop illegally cutting down the Amazon rainforest to make more pasture for more cattle and they said back to you, "Pay us for not using the land if the rainforest is important to you. Who are you to say we can't clear the land? Who is our government to say we can't clear the land? You cleared your land. Was your forest not as important as ours? Why should we limit ourselves so you can produce more to meet the demands of the increasing world population? You say our rainforest is critical to the earth's environment. How much more are you willing to lose before you will pay? We are now the largest exporters of beef in the world, and we don't think you like the competition. You don't really care about the rainforest."
