We set up some of our fly traps today, around the corral and pens, and used the last of the attractant left from last summer. Does anyone know of a really good brand I can replace it with? The flies are sure starting to hatch out, now that we've been having warmer days.

Thanks! :cboy:

I think my Dad just uses some of the dead flys and keeps a little water in the bottom of the traps.

Hate to say it - because it could be considered alcohol abuse - but beer works great.

Thanks, guys! Don't really want to kill a cow and try to stuff her in a milk jug, though  .........and dead flies work great, but ya gotta get 'em dead first. I ain't taking the fly swatter up to the corral and chasing 'em down.......... :) And thank you, Broke Cowboy! Finally! A reasonable use for beer!!!!!!!! As long as I don't have to smell it, I'll be fine...........

It is the smell that draws them.

The hornets as well - so watch your pinkies when handling the traps.

Funny thing - wife used to hate the smell of beer. After one real hot summer she started liking it. Now I have competition for the last one on a hot day. Fortunately she learned how to share some years ago.

If I had not had this one for so long now I would consider trading her in for a couple of non-beer lovers like you. Unfortunately it would just be too darned difficult to train the replacements - so I suppose I will have to keep original wife - she just costs me more in beer.

I guess I have to admit she makes up for it in other ways - 27'th anniversary just last week or so ago. She is sooo lucky to have someone like me! :D :D

Take care,

Aw, Congrats to you guys!!!!!!

Hubby and I celebrated 18, in March. Never thought we'd put up with each other this long! lol

Now I can understand why the "Broke Cowboy" handle........probably spend all your hard-earned moola on beer for the wife, huh?
