What's the verdict on AAR Really Windy

You know Mr.Godley I think I've been to your sale quite a few years back withmy partner in crime Tony Schiffer. Do you have a bunch of windbreaks made from ore tires stacked one on top of the other.

Well, I guess I am getting kind of hooked on this. I emailed Brad Arntzen and he might post something as well. Thank you all for your kind comments. Really Windy was a bull that was never highly promoted, never advertised very much (I don't have that kind of budget) and pretty much did whatever good or bad there was on his own without the hype. I consider him a very honest type of bull on consistant calving ease, decent growth, good females, large scrotal, and good disposition. His ultrasound carcass numbers were in about the bottom 10% of the breed, which made him unpopular with most breeders during his time. However, Lonestar Cattle fed out 65 head of RW steers at Stevensons feedlot in Wheatland, Wyoming that graded over 80% choice (many sires have those bragging rights) . What amazed Stevensons were how quickly they finished, which was about 30 days ahead of schedule. That saved a lot of feed on 65 head. These steers were fed before there was a value type of EPD put on these things, so it really didn't show up as a positive or a negative at that time.

While I'm on, I'll put in a plug for Arntzens. They have a nice looking RW son in their sale on April 3rd. They also have a son they raised that is doing a good job RW 481, and a New Design 878 out of a RW cow that is good.

Also, if anyone has some bad experiences with the bull, let me know. I need to hear all sides! Thanks, Gary

Also, I forgot to reply to Northern Rancher. I do have a bunch of tire wind breaks (ugly things, but they work). You may have been to the sale at the ranch at some point. I sold Darrell Rathcamp a RW son a few years ago, but I don't know if he worked very well for him. Maybe it was Passcreek's sale after all (???) Thanks GG

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I know Tony, and just saw him at a sale in Buffalo, WY last Saturday. Also, thanks for the site for the catalog with RW grandsons. I haven't had time to check it out yet, but will later. (Calving, you know!) GG

I imagine just about everybody knows Tony in Kaycee unless they're a tourist. I've spent some good times down there with Tony, John and their cronies-does Crosby Taylor still reside in the Invasion Bar lol.
