The major problem is that in this Administration they have been totally bought out by the Big Multinational Corporations and International Traders and no longer represent or reflect the interests of UNITED STATES agriculture or AMERICAN consumers...
They forgot what the US in USDA stands for... :(

You hit the nail on the head! They don't care how many Amendments they violate as long as they get what they want.

I agree with you Old Timer, its all about globalization and the harmonization with all the member organizations of the United Nations.

USDA Inc. has abandoned food safety to shore up profits for the big corporate industries. Trade treaties are based on profits without any consideration for food safety of the AMERICAN people or the world. Perhaps the next Administration will scrap this agency.

OT, looks like you have some new supporters. The problems with USDA started long before "this Administration"...remember where Tyson is headquartered. USDA and NCBA were carrying the large packer's water even long before Clinton! Change will have to start with producers...selling to the same people and expecting something different isn't going to change anything. These large packers are still out to eliminate their small and medium packer competition...we have to save them by selling to them and using them to process our cattle. Consumers want to buy from producers, buy local, and/or buy from trusted branded beef programs. These small and medium plants can survive if we support them...and we must!!!

Oh I'm aware much of this was happening with Clinton...Just like Greenspan once said- "he was really a neocon"....But it has been fasttracked and magnified under Bush 10 fold - with an administration thats non regulation, no oversight, big business police themselves policy that has diffused thruout the entire administration- putting the International traders and Multinational and Large Corporate world ahead of the interests of the US and US products and American workers and small entrepreneurs...

And its my belief we are seeing the results of it now... :(

I think you pretty much hit the nail on the head, OT.

This administration has undermined the interests of the United States for their own interests.

I would be interested in a real interview/interrogation of Johanns. If he had any integrity at all, he would do a tell all book of this administration. Of course that is a lot of ask for. The top management of the USDA should be brought up on RICCO charges.
