What's your opinion on the angus bull "Net Worth"?

His picture looks good and his numbers are good.
CED 2 , BW 4 , WW 62, YW 116 , SC .84, Milk 29, Marb. +.28 , RE +.46.

I read somewhere he is the heaviest muscled bull in Angus breed. I have not seen any of his calves. I plan to use him some. I would love to have been at their sale yesterday, but it's 1,400 miles.

I had a person ask about him, but I didn't know much. He goes back
to Bon View Bando 598, and I stay away from that one, but it is
3 generations back.

Just wondered about you all's opinion.

Thanks.

Well in my opinion- and from what I've talked to you about bulls- he's too much "bigger, better, faster...
With numbers like WW 62, YW 116 , Milk 29 unless I was using him on an awful sorry bunch of cows- he'd be considered a terminal sire to me... Especially with that high of Milk EPD I'd be scared of keeping any of the heifers sired by him....

Birth Weight 90
Weaning Weight: 995  (some of the yearling bulls I turned out barely weighed that)
Frame Score 6.4
EN$ -15.78

Definitely doesn't fit the "moderation in all areas" that can keep a guy out of a trainwreck...

Agreed, I'd keep looking

Thanks, efb, OT and Wyoming Rancher. I wasn't thinking of him for our cows. NEVER, EVER!! We haven't played the 'numbers' game for years.
But a good friend asked me and I'm tired of giving him my same 'moderate' answer. So, I thought I'd throw it out here.

Intersting to me that ABS who has promoted the New Design and Precision cattle for years, now has a direct son of 707 in the offering.

You must be talking of Sinclair Rito Legacy 3R9... I have a Legacy son #15800327 out of a Viking/EXT bloodline cow that I'm expecting the first set of calves out of this spring...Kind of anxious to see what he does...

Speaking of ABS I recently got their last catalogue and it seems that they are starting to come around a little on their Angus sires. The last several years I usually look at it once and throw it out, but I commend them they are finally getting some bulls that look like they may have some substance to them.

Not trying to pick a fight here but milk EPD s can be misleading IMO. The epds of 10-15 years ago really cannot be compared to the modern bulls of today because of inflation. A bull that was 15-18 on milk 15 years ago would most likely be 25-30 today.

As far as the bull Net Worth I have no knowledge of his progeny but they seem to be the current rage. I believe he is a son of SAV 004 who is known to sire a little fire once in a while.

As posted on here today Net Worth sons average 9200 on 150 head. Like 004s did a couple of years ago. NW semen has went up to $60.00 so looks like he will be used on good cows or ET. Everybody is talking about his photo because thats what we all see. From what I see comming in from Schaffs some of the other sire lines we top sellers but not in that high of average. Hope some people that were at the sale post there ideas here

I did get their book and they were giving semen from Heavy Hitter to all bull buyers so he may be the next one who knows.
A man was really excieted when he called me last night about his $8000 purchase clear down to lot 354 or 384 and a heifer at $6000 his friend was a happy about a 6500 bull those were far enough down not to be NW sons. This is posted on here today I must be rambleing..
A young man and I talked about going in on one bull he thought the Peacemakers will be the one next year it looked like they used him this year on some older cows.

To get those big ww those calves must come out big..
For you Ranchers NW would give to short of head and neck to calve out there. They may be a boxy thick baby hard to get out of the hatch

See what everybody says here it will be interesting

I'm with you efb. Wasn't too long ago ABS had ONE bull I would consider. They are a good company as far as quality of semen goes, I'm glad they are changing direction.

And Hayfeeder, thanks. I noticed the neck on Net Worth and pointed that out to our friend. 95 lbs. BW and built like that could spell some calving problems. We don't care how good the numbers are if the calves don't come easy.
But not everyone feels that way.

I am still getting calls about sale people are really liking the King bulls and heifers and not saying much at all of the Net Worth cattle.

It was posted on here today that a King son was one of the top sellers.
The word I got was the King heifers were very very good. and were the best buys of the sale

Hope someone posts that was at the sale a tells us more.....
