CENTRAL CITY, Neb. (Dow Jones)--Prices paid for wheat on the U.S. cash grain
market rebounded to renewed record highs again this week, ending Monday's
day-trading session with most classes of wheat worth an average of about
$7.40-$8.00 a bushel at the farm gate.

"The market has rallied in an effort to ration the tight supply of wheat,"
said Brian Hoops, with Midwest Market Solutions. "However, demand has remained
strong, even as prices have rallied, leaving wheat with a supply-and-demand-led
bull market."

Elevator bids for spring and winter wheat have appreciated by approximately
$3 thus far in 2007, with prices soaring $1.15-$1.35 during September alone.
Durum has made even more dramatic gains, with national average market prices
exploding $2 higher in just the past 12 days, to also establish new all-time
record highs of more than $11 a bushel.

Oh Cal!!!!!!! I hope you sold your wheat..........
My hubby is hauling wheat this week four days a week this week....... Makes for a really long week...... He leaves around 12.30 a.m. and gets to Fremont, then rest an hour or two unloads then hauls back home... Gets home about 2.00p.m. Loads the truck then tries to get to bed by eight........ The elevators will be closed to wheat till the middle of October.. They will be taking corn then.... So have to get the loads hauled to fill the contract.......

"the Canadian dollar hit a 31-year high Friday, buying $1.0091 in U.S. currency. No one will use wheat for feeding at these Loonie prices"
Porker, If Wheat, Corn, Soybean prices are looney, then what is $150.00cwt 5 wt feeder cattle? I guess it depends on what side of the fence you are on. If you think corn prices are "looney" ....wait till next year when a high 79M or a low 80M acres are planted!!!! FIVE DOLLAR corn may look cheap!! Bottom line is.....if you cannot sell a spring calf in the fall for $500 and make money, then you need to find a way to do it!

It looks like a major readjustment in grains and livestock values forever.

I would like so much to believe that.

However, I have heard it said soooo many times . . . . . . . .

At the same time, the world population growth curve may actually be starting to pressure our foodstuffs production capability. Ending stocks are relatively low compared to consumption.

What do you all think?

The local elevator today was calling around trying to get folks to sell barley for Dec delivery at $6.50 bushel-- wasn't but a couple months ago it was selling for $3.00.....

Couple of folks at the water hole said the huge raise was because of exports- in that a lot of the Muslim and other countries were wanting barley now instead of US corn because of the GMO corn problems...

Barley for Dec delivery at $6.50 bushel--- Not the Highest ,Blaney had the posted price of $ 7.10 bushel--- Local oats ?

Yep--But you have to remember local posted is usually about $2 below KC, Portland, or Minneapolis-on all grains -- freight costs....

I haven't bought any oats for any horses yet this year-- they aren't even listing oats on the local boards- maybe there is none :???:

I think you're right.

For goodness sake, Sandhusker, you shouldn't make a statement like that without first giving a warning.

My wife just came rushing into the office to see what the big crash was and it was me flat out on the floor beside my chair. She asked what happened and it took a minute to clear the wooziness out of my head but it gradually all came back. I said, "Sandhusker actually just agreed with something I said".
