Reasonable sized animal but nothing to really be afraid of - unless of course it tries to come in the house. LOL!

They are as common as fleas where I live

Actually you better do the shoulder - he will live for several hours by your method - and he is quite capable of doing you some serious harm.

You cannot out run it and you cannot out climb it.

Shoulder - remember - shoulder - or spine - forget the head shot - a waste of time - you will miss.

Its not exactly legal to kill them here. Dam protected species crap. As long as they stay away from my house i dont care. but the second one comes around its done. Most of them have collars on them for tracking.

Well, go and build yourself a spud gun - a buddy of mine used one on a small bear at a camp we had in the Cariboo region of BC a few years back - hit it right in the ash - that bear took off like a shot.

Hey - they are fun - you can chase them down with a whip and they generally will run or you can even try roping one - but you better have a pretty steady horse as I hear they do not pull on the leash, but like to run up to the leash holder.

Enjoy your time with the bears.

Oh, they do not like firecrackers either.

We call those bad bears here. I heard of one garbage bear that was relocated about 70 miles away,and was back in less than two days. Sometimes you just have no choice.

I recall many many years ago Louisiana did a wildlife exchange with Minnesota....gators for black bears.

The black bears were released in the remote Atchafalaya Basin but quickly scattered in all directions. Amazingly, two bears from that release were eventually sighted near Orange, Texas.....having basically crossed half of the state of Lousiana before being sighted. :shock:

That was a good trade on our part the gators got in the Mississippi and went back to Louisiana. Down there I'd worry more about the humans from New Orleans than a black bear.
