I posted these first two bulls on CT right after turnout in May, so some of you might have seen them. They are both three year olds:

This bull has been running with cows all summer, but has stayed in pretty good shape because he's way down on the pecking order. I decided to leave him out another cycle with some late-calving cows and just took this pic Saturday. He's also a three year old.

These calves are out of mostly Beefmaster and Beefmaster cross cows by the three bulls pictured above and a few other ones that are too ugly for pics. The bulk of them are six months old. They were early-weaned last Thursday and the pics were taken the day after weaning. I had planned on pulling them in November, but it just turned off too dry.

Some of them were a little tired and gaunt by the next morning:

Others were already getting after the hay pretty good:

It didn't take long to get them coming up looking for cake:

I use the Charolais bulls as terminal bulls, but they also get some correct and feminine heifers. These two were out of cull cows that were still in pretty decent flesh two weeks ago, so I just sold the cows and kept the heifer calves to throw in with the other ones. This picture was taken three or four days after I sold their mommas. They are both right at four months old, but I had let their mommas teach them how to eat cake for a couple of days, and if they ever lost a pound, I couldn't tell it.

Sure are some good looking cattle Texan. Nice facilities too.

Them calves look like profit in the pocket even in your dry weather.

Great pics!

It's great to know that calves over there are just like calves over here, who are just like kids.......one taste of cake, and they're lifetime addicts!

I especially like your third bull pic, he's very nice. Those two young heifers are great! The lighter colored one kinda reminds me of Al's Tillie heifer that he raised in his 4-H Cattle Breeding project.

Thanks for a peek at your operation!

Those cute heifer calves look freshly shampooed and blown dried.

Nice calves, Texan. Looks like a good payday coming.

Guardrail sure makes good sturdy pens. A little hard to climb in a hurry, though.

I can scale our guardrail lickety split if I need too... Some of it is easier to climb than others depending on how tight we built it and how fast the climbing needs t be done.

Thanks for the compliments, everybody. And txag, you're sure right about climbing that guardrail. The round side is especially bad when it's wet. But like IL Rancher says, the right incentive helps a lot.

Hey txag, I noticed that there were some Brangus bull pics way on down the page. At one time, I know you had a really nice looking Brangus heifer bull. One of the best ones I've ever seen. Why don't you show him to us if you've still got him. I think that bull could even improve the offspring from a whiteface cow.

Haha! Funny. :P But you're right.....he does a good job on the cows that just don't quite make it in the registered herd.

This one?
