took Ty and Sara hunting this A'M and Ty got this old scrapper onthe far side of my meadows. His biggest mass measurement was over 7 inches-his left main beam had blood about 3 inches down from fighting. He must of been a mighty buck in his prime as he measures 157 on his downhill side. Two happy campers here.

Nice deer. Question for you NR. Do the whitetail ever get the blue tongue or hemoragic (sorry about the spelling!) fever there. Went out this weekend in SD and hardly saw any whitetails. Just wondering.

We hadan outbreak of bluetounge and EHD last year here Fulton.. It was BAD... People would walk ditches and just find dead deer after dead deer.. It was real dry in 2005 and the deer concentrated in water that was stagnant.. Perfect situation for an epidemic... 1/4 section around a pound thaey for 30 dead deer from babies too b&C sized bucks... Very sad.. Deer rebounded well but I would say numbers are still down this year in this part of the county, no where near as many near misses for my truc this year ad in say 200-2004 :lol: :lol:

Sharp shooting, That buck looks like the one that we just about hit with the pickup when we were thru your neck of the woods.

No I don't think we have that up here-I think those long hard winters do alot to keep the deer herd healthy.

Here's a better look at those bases-I've never sen a typical buck with 7 inch base measurements before.
