How about you post the greatest Canadian General, I honestly couldn't tell you a single one but would imagine there must have been some good ones.
I will only do this as you are the author of the thread and have asked me to - I do not want this to seem like a hijack.
I have several that I think are historically important - from earliest to most modern:
General Wolfe - actually a Brit who beat those dastardly French on the Plains of Abraham to make then Lower Canada an English Colony
General Brock - another Brit who prevented you guys from making us Americans by kicking some US ash in 1812.
General Currie - a bred and born Canuck - who led the Canadians up Vimy Ridge in WW1
Major-General B.M. Hoffmeister - led the Canadians in Sicily and at Juno Beach - liberated Holland
General Hillier - recently put the bounce back in the Canadian soldiers step - called the Taliban "Scum" and told the politicians to "Put up or shut up" - the papers loved him for his quotable quotes and anyone who was elected feared his no nonsense approach - the troops basically worshipped him - we still call him Ranger Rick
As it all comes down to beating the French and being here today I would suppose the final honour would have to go to Wolfe - hands down. The others did their job with distinction, but Wolfe created a country.
Cheers
