Is it obligatory to destroy statues in Islam, even if they are part of the legacy of human civilization?

Al-Nawawi said in Sharh Muslim when discussing the issue of image-making:

They were unanimously agreed that whatever casts a shadow is not allowed and must be changed.

Images that cast a shadow are three-dimensional images like these statues.

after a bunch of excuses of why past muslim leaders failed in destroying them. .. the jerk basically said yes they must be destroyed..


After blowing up a buddist statue and torching churches, the pyramids would be a logical next step in purging the world.
