Congrates MT girl. :-)

When I first saw it i thought it might have been in Dooley MT. Maybe the same style. Maybe even the same carpenter.

I like that church that Jassy posted as well.

Congradulations...a true old country church...

My old church picture is up in Wyoming..it was a beautiful well kept up church and still in use.

Great photos everyone congrats to MT girl.

Jassy, that church (your photo) is beautiful so earthy and natural even the log benches .Absolutely gorgeous in a very humble way and a place that you would want to worship in. More should look like that/be like that.
Thanks for posting it.

Congrats MTgirl nice shot ...LIlly cool church..Tell us about it :)

Les,
This church was built by Mr Lilly's GGG Grandfather, and several brothers, and cousins along with others from the community. He donated the land for the church, and cut all the wood to build it on his saw mill. They'd just arrived from South Carolina and the church is one of the first things they did as a community. I love this old church, it's got such charactor. Sitting in there on Sunday morning.....lookin up at the ceiling, you can see hand prints of all the men that worked on it. Either the oil from their hands, or the pine rausen (sp) at the time made their hand prints show up years later. It was built in 1850.

The picture that bighorn entered could almost be the outside of this church I posted, minus the copula(sp) and window lights above the doors.

Thanks all and great pics everyone! :)

This is an old country church north of Galata, MT not too far from the Canadian border. It was built in the early 1900's and is on the national historic registry. Very beautiful!

Lilly alot of history there...everwonder which hand print might belong to mr lillys ggg grandfather?

Every time I go in there. And yes your right, there is alot of history there. It's so neat that all of his family were within a couple miles of here. And most are buried in the cemetary that goes with that church. Made my genealogy search on his side of the family alot easier. Most folks in this community are related in one way or another. Cousins, second cousins, etc. We have a wonderful Sunday afternoon when they hold "Homecomin" at the church. Everyone comes, brings dinner, and we have dinner on the grounds outside. Ya get to talk to all the old timers, and younger generations as well, and always meet someone you hadn't met before. I've been attendin now for 23 years, and have yet to go to one, that I didn't meet someone new, that's related to us.
