Lots of great pictures everyone, I really liked the one of the prophane tank floating along :shock:
Too bad this catagory wasn't next week, I could have sent in some snow pictures from this weekends snow storm.
Those pictures are of a wpa dam on our property, in the summer of 2004 a muskrat dug a hole clear through the dike so we took the scraper out and dug down to the leak and packed the dirt back in to plug it. Unfortuneatly we lost a little dirt so the dike was about a foot lower in that spot.
No big deal since it went almost dry before winter.
Spring 2005 we get a rain storm that drops over 5 inches in about 15 minutes and the spillway can't dump enough water to keep it from going over that low spot
and the grass hadn't grown back very well so there wasnt any roots to help hold it either.
The folks living on the other side of the water didnt get their mail that day, for some reason the gal that delivers the mail didn't want to cross where the water was going over the road. :twisted: But she went across at my mail box and delivered my mail. I guess she likes me better.lol
Here is a link to my rain folder with a bunch of other pictures from that day. There is one in there that shows my house and creek out front that I combined to make a panorama, it didn't come out too bad for the first time trying it. The water isn't as high in it cause it was taken several hours later when the water was no longer going over the main road and I could stand out there.

that propane tank is actually on a bank which is normally 15 foot above the river. we had 11 inches of rain in about 6 hours. was not a good situation.
saw 12 tornadoes that night, but none of the pictures turned out well. amazing how a guy can be mesmerized and terrified at the same time
